The truck sales boom is a bubble and soon will burst along with the economy...AGAIN just like in 2008, if you are a repo guy you better get ready to start hauling big em pick em up trucks soon..

In the next couple of years if you are in the market for one of these things at a huge discount, just wait until these folks can't make the payments on the 7 year loans.

Very doubtful. Trucks were still the top sold vehicles when the economy tanked and while they slowed up some and gas prices went up, they still sold them.

$71k is dump truck money.

I wish used pickups were a better deal, I still think I paid to much for my half ton but its what they go for sadly.

Hopefully they sell a lot of them so the used market comes down to where it should be.

Total cost, ready to drive off and go to work.... 115K. For some pickup to cost even half of that is criminal. But, the market will charge what it can get.
And you could have bought that same truck 10 years ago for 80,000.

I bought a 3/4 ton just because I planned on keeping it a long time and wanted it built. The new Ram 1500's are really jacked up El Caminos. Just look under them. I bought the Sport which has some goodies. The truck makers corner you. You can't get a Ram with Leather seats unless you get "Package". Which quickly takes that price tag up $10,000 for one or two things you want and several things you could care less about.

You are getting 30,000 lbs for not much more money that an 7,800 lb Ram tough pick up.

Wow, never have seen such judgmental statements involving those driving trucks. I have had trucks all my life and bought my last one in 05. I also had a farm and needed my truck for the farm, but two years ago retired and moved closer to my daughter, so now my truck is one of those that sits in the driveway and only gets short tripped. Now if any tree hugging nice guy or gal would like to buy me a new energy efficient vehicle of my choosing I will be glad to unload the truck. But I am not personally spending the money on anything new myself, even if it does rustle some folks feathers on occasion. Jeez Louise if that is the only thing to complain about in life you are doing alright.

Tons of guys at my work drive loaded Tahoe's and Silverado's with 20 and 22 inch chrome wheels.

Carpeted beds, nothing ever sits in the bed.

These are 50k trucks all day long.

They all have satellite radio, Onstar with Ipad starting and other nonsense.

No way,, Can't build a house unless you drive a F350 crew cab with a diesel engine lift kit huge tires and rims and a lumber rack.

I don't care much about judging other peoples' vehicular decisions, but Houston and surrounding areas sure seem to have a lot of contractors/construction workers with lifted trucks that appear to double as work trucks. What a pain in the butt that has to be, loading and unloading.

Well said. This is still America and i can drive whatever i want too. I own a truck because i use it everyday to make money. I don't need the approval of the Prius lovers, nor do i care what they think.

I have nothing against Fuel efficient vehicles, but i certainly can't make a living in my profession out of the trunk of a hybrid.

So so right. I live here in TX and you will see folks living in 100K homes and have large ugly trucks with clean beds parked in their driveways, there is no use for these trucks in city limits. Its fine if they are used in farms and construction but for an average joe, 12-14MPG on the 1T ugly trucks doesn't cut it. I find them obnoxious and stupid to drive these trucks when they are not using them for what they were built for. Many if not most seem to have poor self esteem with huge egos. The bigger the better.

Much worse women driving these truck based SUVs to match their partners.

Americans have lousy auto habits (if they didn't how could the big three sell 2M trucks excl. truck based SUVs every year) and have thin memory when it comes to oil prices and saving up for retirement!!

That's not just big, that's Texas size EGOs

There's a thread about a member's new Charger. It's an R/T, and there's not a single negative comment. Funny how that works.

Unless you can get a screaming deal on the plain one, I would at least get the $500 chrome bumper/grille/alum wheel package.

I would pay an extra $500 to NOT get that.

The bumpers I have seen, the black ones, do not appear to hold up. Not unless if rust brown is a suitable color. Might not rust off but sure does not look good.

Around here they rust and for lack of a better term at the moment, biodegrade.

Truck hate = latent "bubba bashing".

My favorite is how the media reports. If a driver who happens to be in a truck happens to cause a wreck, then they say "THE TRUCK" caused the wreck. If the driver is in a car or van, then "the driver" caused it...
