Out of 50,000 sold in the US, we have 2 cars from Canada with issues....yeah, I'll call it rare, too.
The EV6 sold just under 40,000 units in the US, so just under 100,000 cars with the same underpinnings/battery, and we have 2 in the news for this. Forgive me for not freaking out.

You need to know the terms and conditions of the reman part as they will expect a core return. Maybe the damaged casing puts the battery outside of the T’s and C’s.

I repair EV batteries for Audi, no way would I buy anything that’s currently available on the market.

GM is replacing c8 transmissions due to a failed sensor because its not serviceable, lol, where'sthe bitog outrage? Thats over $20k USD btw...because a sensor failed.

Kia ev6 HV pack is about $30K USD.

There is nothing wrong with them and it's one of the best battery packs out there. Just like I am sure Corvette frames are okay, too, despite them bending in testing and totaling a car because one hit a rock or something...

I know you want to hate the "new thing", but it's pretty awesome. Hate away, lol! I mean, you are literally crying chicken little because someone hit an unknown item in the freeway and allegedly damaged their vehicle. So many unknowns...like...was it even really damaged as stated? We dunno! Noone tore the pack down yet, and it was functioning and cooling just fine.

The Audi Etron has speed sensors on the drive motors. I’ve changed quite a few motors due to this sensor failing as it’s not replaceable as an individual part.

They have historically been mediocre, but they nailed EVs. Insane thermal management and minimal degradation, along with very good performance. Only Tesla and Koenigsegg have comparable or better motors.

Show me the invoice, what a service advisor tells a customer the warranty costs are is relatively meaningless as at the point the customer is collecting the vehicle the repair has not been paid by the manufacturer

So…

Dealer received the new transmission last Friday, they called me to notify me, said it would take about a week to install. They called me yesterday to say the car was done.

I picked it up today.

The car was immaculately clean and seems to be running well.

I will need to break in for 1500 miles but that’s no big deal.

As much as the situation was unfortunate, I have nothing but high praise for Jim Glover Chevrolet in Tulsa, OK. They got me in, communicated with me, kept me in the loop, and got the work done when they said they would and delivered me a clean car at the end. I was lucky to get a new transmission as fast as I did as well.

I also appreciate GM for this as well. Probably will get an extended warranty, though!

I would use the service department at Jim Glover again in a heartbeat, and Mike and Cody (the service reps) were fantastic.
So often, we hear stories of bad experiences so I wanted to share a good one, particularly for folks in the NE Oklahoma area.

This was a wholly different experience than the abysmal and incompetent experience I had with the service department at SouthPointe Chevy in Tulsa with the transmission issues I had with my 2014 which are detailed in another thread from a couple of years ago and I would tow my car to another city for service before I’d let the jokers at SouthPointe anywhere near another car I own.

The owner had a terrible experience with one dealership who were incompetent, but shifting to another dealership got the job done.

I expect weird ev service experiences to occur as some service centers vary from center to center in their want to help a customer

It won't be so rare once we have a lot more Ev's on the road. And I don't think the couple people that so far have had this bad luck consider it to be so insignificant.
The problem isn't with how often it happens (so far) as that is extremely affected by how many cars are on the road at this time. The problem is with what happens if you need to fix it. Sorry, but at this point these are the definition of a throwaway vehicle. Hopefully that changes in the future, but no amount of blind defense from the fanboys can change that.

I know many people who drive them with over 100,000 miles aka 160,000 kms, and double that plus, on the original engine.
Hyundai, Kia, are some of the most popular brands around here, and they are overall better build quality than many other brands, especially GM it seems. I do all the maintenance on a 2019 Sportage, it seems well built, and has been anything but a nightmare.
When it comes to poorly made, what springs to my mind first is the Escalade. When I used to work in a shop we maintained one for a realtor woman, it was terrible. More recently though, my employers wife, and daughter in law drive them, they're horrendous pieces of garbage according to them. A sample size of 3 is tiny, but sort of a trend when 3 out of 3 are garbage.
My employers wife got rid of her Escalade last week I've been told, and although I haven't seen it yet, now drives a Telluride.
