Overall calculated mpg = 37.9. 90% of driving is 5 miles into town and back. Many jaunts 2 miles to gun club. Very impressive. Have not yet changed oil and oil level has not noticeably dropped. Oil is still clear looking. No problems whatsoever. I can't imagine a better $12,300 car for "My" driving needs.

Too bad more people don't like their Chevys as much as we do...

I was considering getting one of these but it being Chevy and the fact that it was the first CVT being sold here by Chevrolet, i had doubts about its reliability.
Ended up with a Kia Picanto, which i will pick up on Monday.

I realize you are trying to throw a negative spin on the vehicle. And I could care less. Just wanted to clarify to others that:
1. Its very reliable and well built.
2. Its not a Daewoo
3. It has become extremely popular world-wide.

BTW Daewoo built a pretty good vehicle. My daughter had one that ran 75 K trouble free miles. She got rid of it bc you could no longer buy parts.

Saw one on display in the mall today. It stickered at around $13,000.00 Manual windows/manual 5 speed and an air conditioner. Nice looking for an econo box.

Really, really small though. I'm in the land of pickups. Quite frankly - I would be afraid to use on as my daily driver here in Utah.

Daewoo doesn't even exist anymore and hasn't for 15 years other than GM Korea and/or Tata fronting the name on some products in their home market. I guess the Sonic is also a Daewoo by that standard...

IMO, the Spark is a more than decent "tiny" car that offers a lot if you can get away with the size and get it with the 5 speed manual and not the CVT. Maybe "purpose driven" would be a good description for a typical buyer. I think Al ticked the right boxes for what it offered and the price.

I got the Kia Picanto for over 2K less than the Spark, although the Spark did come better equipped.

No, I'm not.

To be honest i wouldve bought the Spark if it came with a regular AT.
There arent any shops that i know of that can even service a CVT here so its a no go.

Probably would be a shop that could service this once the (CVT) transmission needs service.......in five or ten years.

I assume your talking an independent shop-since a dealer would already be trained.

What I've read online is the CVT for the Spark is a Jatco M4M-CVT7. Same as in the Mitsubishi Mirage and other small cars. Jatcos are certainly nothing rare and it's been out there basically 4yrs, since the 2014 model year for the Spark.

Test drive write-ups claim the CVT is a night/day better driving experience over the previous 4spd auto in these ~70hp beasts.

Add 28 horsepower and you got it...

Dealers here arent like in the USA or other parts of the world. I mean, its latin america, i can bet that most technicians in dealers are really just guys with some wrenching time under their belts and no training at all.

The only brand that has been using CVTs for quite a while down here is Nissan but im not sure how they-ve been doing since i-ve never cared to do my homework on it.

The bottom line is that you really don't know if the dealer has been trained or not. Your assuming facts not in evidence.

True. Still cant trust them.
If a dealer cant get a simple paint job right in their own bodyshop which they claim are trained and certified i wont trust them on mechanical stuff.
