2009 Nissan Versa 21k on it and to make life easier for me, I would like to do a 6-month 8-9k OCI. I currently am on my second OCI with Amsoil ASL 5W30 that I had in the garage. I plan on changing the oil in October and April.

The car gets driven about 42-mile round trip Monday-Friday and around town on the weekends. I am thinking about doing a blackstone UOA in April to see how it holds up but thought I would see if anyone else has done this on a 4 quart sump?

Also, the oil filter on the Versa is pretty tiny can the purolater pure 1 withstand a 6-month oci?

Assuming that you're using a PL14612, you may want to consider using the PL14610 which is just a little longer and therefore has more filtering media. My Altima specs the "shorty", but I've been using the longer since since the factory filter came off. Many, many Nissan owners use the longer filter.

You might want to think twice before doing OCIs longer than 7500 miles which is Nissan's "Schedule 2" interval. It's not worth taking any chances with them denying a engine-related warranty claim. I know that a lubrication-related engine problem is highly unlikely, but the burden is in the proof and you want to get in a bind where that burden lies on you.

After a recent UOA of my QR25DE after a 6K OCI using Castrol EDGE, I'm going to increase my interval to 7500 and hold there (resampling periodically) until I'm out of warranty. Then I may consider extending it further as long as it's supported by UOAs.

With that round trip milage, and a good synthetic oil, I'm not sure I would even bother with a UOA. Anything more than 10k though and I would.

just stick with 7500 just in case to make nissan happy.
my warranty is finished and i'm still staying with 7500.

i figured going longer, i'm topping off enough, i might as well just change it.

Since he is using AMSOIL ASL oil, his warranty can already being denied as he is not using an API certified oil.

So yes, you can push it easily to 8kmiles or whatever it is to do your twice a year OCI.

What I would do (in fact, that is what I am doing right now, as I don't follow the book myself), is do an UOA each time you do an oil change. At least, with these records from the UOA, you have some weapons in case they want to fight with you in case of a problem.

AMSOIL is a great oil, you won't have any problem extending your OCI. BTW, you could use their oil filter too (the longer one is EaO13 if I remember correctly), and change the oil filter only every April (every other change).
