So I just found out that the warehouse in NJ is taking our truck in for an oil change every 3k...

To a dealer no less or so I'm told. You'd think someone would say something. The truck has been plagued with DEF issues the last 1 year after someone else took over taking care of it.

I explained that you can't leave it in the hot cab of the truck or the sunlight which they were doing. So hopefully that stops that, needs a new serpentine belt as well.

It also is speed limited to 55MPH which is dangerous on our highways here consider they all are 70mph+ with traffic.

Based on my limited searching it seems like 500 hours or 15k miles annually is the normal OCI. Anyone work on these daily with anymore tips? I think I am about to take over maintenance because they apparently have no idea what they are doing.

7500 miles or no more than 10k seems more reasonable. 3k is really severe service it would appear, how many miles on it and what’s the history like?

UOA’s have shown significant TBN left which would allow me to go 15k in mine but I’ve yet to go beyond 10k changes. Oil & filters are cheap, engines are not.

Assuming it's the same 6.7 as our 2014 pickup...if it's time for a new belt, has the CCV filter been done?

Ours won't be going 15k on intervals as long as I have anything to do with it.

There are 3 maintenance schedules. Our mileage falls into the middle one since we do roughly 25k a year otherwise I think the other OCI is 6-8k miles.

Truck is over 100k and the current belt is cracked/torn. I would bet no it hasn't been but I'll look tomorrow.

On the small capacity oil sumps, 250hr is better. That's roughly equal to 10k miles.
Id imagine that box van is doing more slow, stop/go, idle vs holding ~65mph like a long haul truck

500hr (20k miles) is fine on a 8, 10+ gallon sump, though some shops do 250hr still... especially on local trucks. Stuff like local LTL, concrete, dump truck, plow, etc.

Best is oil samples across the fleet and determine a safe OCI.

FWIW I think you could do 10K OCI's. After all it is a 2019 so the OCI recommended in the similar equipped Rams is 15K.

If you take on the maintenance I'd stick with Fleetguard filters.

Just my $0.02

I am pulling an oil sample and sending it off. I actually like going by hours instead of mileage considering it may sit and idle. Usually, it runs 500 miles a week between Easton, PA, Clinton & Flemington, NJ and two trips up to Port Washington, NY.

My other concern is the DPF & SCR if they have been using low-ash oil and when it needs to be cleaned.

Low ash oil is a fairly recent thing. Like Delo 600.
No one here uses it... and we sell probably 60k gallons a year of diesel oil.

I saw it in the maintenance manual. It stated if not used that sooner cleaning of the DPF/SCR may be needed.
