Read or find your warranty manual for your vehicle. Below is what is out of mine for my RAM 6.4 and calls out the same MS-12633 specification for oil.
In the rare event you should have a oil related failure, you are going to be on the hook to prove you met this oil requirement. Also, if you used a oil not meeting this spec and try to make claim with that oil company, they are just going to deny since you failed to follow the manufacturers recommendations.
People can internet lawyer the verbiage of "Required" VS. "Recommend" all they want but only you are going to be standing there by yourself financially if you should arise with a warranty issue and having to prove you followed the recommended oil fill or not. Path of least resistance is to follow the recommendations. Have to ask yourself how much potential risk this may be and are you willing to assume it?
