Could it be that even if the 5W-20 is not as good for the engine as 5w30, the difference is still miniscule to cause an engine failure.
And could it be that the benefits of running 5W-20 (savings due to better gas mileage, less pollution) far outweigh the shortcomings (increased wear numbers in UOA) for the average autimobile owner?
