47,000 mile oil filter cut open

For being on a 2015 Ram 1500 w/ hemi for ~47K miles, that filter looks better than I thought it would!

He said the engine sounded good when it came in and sounded good when it rolled out.

I'm surprised it hadn't eaten it's cam shaft by now due to destroyed rollers and lifters.

Though the 'torture test' is over for now, there's nothing to say those parts weren't damaged and are on borrowed time.

All the owner can do (besides preemptively tearing the engine down) is drive it and keep it oiled.

Well, you can’t buy a new car around here or the depreciation police will come out and beat you about the head and shoulders.
I just can't find a new one that I want to buy (& the ridiculous prices don't help any either)! No manual transmissions, few non-turbo, non GDI, reliable engines (in the small SUV segment). Going to look at a (relatively) low mileage '06 Saturn Vue 2.2 L61 FWD manual tomorrow for $4500-wish me luck... Will need to load up on Hengst cartridges!
