If he lived in Miami the car would have been totaled by now or in the body shop at least 100 times.

That story is awesome..I always liked those Cougars.

The styling was so much nicer then...Unlike the ugly styling of the smiling Acura TL and a bunch of other late model cars.

What's he going to run into over there, a cow? They do a good job of fencing them off. As long as he avoids running into a drunk college student, there aren't many hazards out that way.

I love stories like these, especially if it's an American car. A lot of older folks are telling me they missed the days when everything American-made meant high quality..(American-made is still good, unfortunately, the new generation of people are poisoned by false information).

Very well said!..I agree 100%!

Was that a 289 engine? I had a 67 Mustang but it didnt last near that long. Of course it went through several people before I got it and one was my lead footed sister.

That's cool, but you have 418K to go

While I was in high school a neighbor kid had a Mercury Cougar like that one. American cars of the late 60's were some of the best and my fav classic cars.

Not true. The interstates in Washington get brine and rock salt as do some cities. Where he lives gets snow every year, but of course nothing like the North East.

An uncle bought a new '67 Cougar in the fall of '66 when they first came out IIRC. I was just a kid but these Cougars looked awesome. It was burgundy with the black vinyl roof and interior.

He had a 390 4 bbl and I recall he had engine cooling issues or something burning the transmission or the engine more than one time. But he really had a lead foot so that might explain.

He then moved on with a used '68 Chrysler 300 with a 440...

Very cool. Obviously well maintained and a little luck with no major accidents. And, the unique sequential turn signals, what more can you say.
