P1 #2 '99 Grand Am, 7k miles, July '14 to April '15

ADBV has a tear in it, pleats wavy, quite a bit of gunk in the pleats.

Wait are you serious? All I see on my end is the filter pics?

Well, this is awkward.

But if there are pics of cats, that's Zoey

I really need to know if there's pics of cats. I've logged in on three different devices and all I see is the filter pics. And if there actually is how have 100 people viewed this thread and just not commented?

First five are a stock photo of a yawning kitten with "Photo Not Found" - "click for photos".

And they aren't clickable.

Grrrrrr. Well forget it. Took me 20 mins to do the first upload.

Great pics of filter #3 and #4 for me. The first two are just broken links for me like he already described.

That ecore was pushed way too far but that is the main reason I won't use an ecore. If that media fails (which plenty of posts have shown it often does) there is nothing to stop it from getting in the engine.

My buddy at work lost an engine to an ecore in just that manner.

The first 5 pics were uneventful anyways. The pleats were wavy but everything was good.

Minus the torn ADBV's, the P1's did a fine job. They weren't ran very long but you get the point.

The ecore came off my mom's car and she and her husband both are far less than competent in vehicle maintenance. They push their oil changes wayyyy to long. They've pushed this same Caliber to endure a 20K mile Wal-Mart oil change in the past. I flipped on her when I found this out. When this engine fails I won't feel a bit of sympathy. They deserve it. I replaced this Ecore with a FU. That will at least hold up and keep the oil clean for much longer.

I really love your gloves. It looks like you got your moneys worth out of them

Maybe you could ask your folks to spring for a new pair since you are saving them some oil change bucks

typical ecore failure... uneven and too little pleating results in the media flattening against the cage and eventually tearing.

Please review the Puro's carefully. Members have posted pictures thinking there were no tears only for other members to point them out. Thorough inspection needed.

Regarding the torn ADBV... no idea how that could happen but it's certainly a failure.

The P1 pleats were completely taken apart, all 3 were in excellent condition, no tears or holes. The only issue was 2 out of 3 had ADBV failures. I have switched all my vehicles over to FU's but this tear down made me more likely to purchase Purolator in the future, though I would more than likely go for the synthetic variety filters.

Yeah, that's strange. I've never seen that before.
