Fram PH4386 off of 2000 Camry 2.2 5SFE with 239,621 miles on the car.
4,664 miles and 10 months on oil/filter.
Filter on car from 234,957 to 239,621 miles.
From June 9th, 2022 until April 17th, 2023.
Oil used was a Frankenbrew of:
2-3/4 qt. Chevron Supreme 5W-30
1/2 qt. Havoline DS 10W-30
1/2 qt. Rotella T4 15W-40

Usually the filters off of this car are clean and boring- but this one has more gunk in the pleats than ever before. I just changed the timing belt, oil pump, valve cover gasket and cam plug, and all related parts, then ran it for a bit to get any gunk, then changed the oil and filter. Perhaps that is the cause of the gunk, but I will see what the next filter looks like.

Back in/on:
3-3/4 qts. Mobil Clean 5,000 5W-30
Toyota 90915-YZZF2 filter

Not bad. I use these on our 2004 Camry. They probably will also fit my 1994 which specs the shorter version. I’m curious where did you find the YZZF2 filters? Those were long discontinued. YZZN1 is the new part number for them. Just a shorter version of the YZZF1.

My wife found it on clearance a few weeks ago at Walmart, she snapped a picture of it and asked me if I wanted it. I use OEM Toyota parts for everything on it, with the exception of oil filters since they are made in Thailand, but figured I'd give it a shot. They must have had it hidden away for a while somewhere 🙂
And yes the PH4386 will fit your 1994, it is the same engine as my 2000 (5SFE) with the exception of the 1994 having a distributor. I have run 4967/4386/3614 without an issue. Actually, have never run PH3614, but Wix/Napa 1348 and Motorcraft FL910S which is the same size.

How long has this filter been discontinued?

Here is the date code on the filter if anyone knows how to read the Denso/Toyota codes

I believe since about 2017. They had tons of them made when they were discontinued though so they were used until about 2019 or early 2020. I know when I worked at Toyota the first time it was already discontinued. Last time I remember them and the F1 being available at Walmart was around 2016 or 17 too so it’s been a good 5 years or so. Which I’m sure there are still some out there somewhere. The N1 is a tad shorter than the F2.

I’m betting under the valve cover looks cleaner than AutoMechanics Camry.

Very nice Photos also, Thank You

I do see the black debris on the filter that you're talking about. Hopefully, it will clear up next cycle.
That's what I'm hoping. I've never seen it from this car before, so hopefully it's just from having the engine open on the top (valve cover/cam plug) and front (oil pump). We will cut open the Toyota filter next oil change and see what it looks like inside.

Thank you for the info 🙂 I didn't even realize the filter itself was discontinued, just figured our Walmart in Lubbock had stopped carrying it. My daughter and I will cut it open at the next oil change and take a peek.

Looks like carbon deposits in the filter. Maybe you knocked some off change the oil pump. Or your frankenbrew is somehow doing some cleaning.
