3 from Canada, One from USA?

Just got 4 new Michelin Defender LTX's from Discount Tire for my Honda CRV. When I got home I was checking them out and noticed that 3 have the same date codes and say Made in Canada on them, while the other was made about a month later and says Made in USA on it.

Should I be concerned? Can I trust that the one from USA will wear the same as the other 3 from Canada, or should I go back to Discount Tire and try to get all 4 of them to be the same, or at the very least, 2 matching pairs?

You'll be fine. I mounted a set of Michelin X-Ice this week that were all made in Canada. A set of BFGs were made in China and that surprised me.

Welcome to BITOG 🥳

They will be fine. You will not have any problems with one tire being made a month later, and the USA/Canada doesn't matter much, either :)

It depends how identical are "the same" tires from two different plants.
I would call Michelin and ask. In case your AWD, I asume, CRV does not like it at least there should be a trace that you asked.

A heard on the internet about a person with Mazda MX-5 (aka Miata) who had issues with car tracking straight after tire replacement.
He found that 1 or 2 tires were from different factory (country).
After matching the tires his car started driving like before.

I just sent Michelin an email to see what they think. The tires are currently mounted and stacked up in the corner of my garage and haven't been driven on yet, and won't be until springtime. I'm sure Discount tire would have no problem swapping out my oddball tire if I asked them to, but I don't want to be a pain in the ass if it's really not a big deal. My car is AWD, and the tire from USA does seem to be an ever so slightly lighter shade of black than the other 3, so I'm not so sure about it.

The automated email response from Michelin said that I should receive a response from them within 2-5 business days. I will keep you guys posted when they get back to me.

I got a response from back from Michelin. It's kind of long and rambling and doesn't directly address the question that I asked, other than to say that all Michelins "are built to the standards that have made our products the benchmark for the industry" and that they hope that the issue has been resolved to my satisfaction.

I still wish all 4 tires had the same date code and/or (at the very least) came from the same country, but it is what it is. I think I'm just going to roll with it and see what happens over the next 80,000 or so miles that they're supposed to last. At this point I don't think I'm going to go back to bug the people at the tire store.

Here is a copy and paste of the email from them that I received....

Thanks for contacting the Michelin Consumer Care Team. My name is Carley and I look forward to helping you out. You've been assigned case number 02595342. This will allow my team to quickly pull up your case details if any further questions arise.

Michelin’s strategy is to manufacture tires in the country where they will be sold whenever possible. The vast majority of Michelin products sold in North America, are built in the 19 plants we have across the United States, Canada and Mexico, employing most of the 23,000 employees of Michelin North America. However, Michelin is an international company, with manufacturing operations at 72 plants across 19 countries around the world. To meet the needs of our customers by providing more specialized tire lines in smaller quantities, we import some tire lines into North America and we export others from North America. Please be assured that no matter where your Michelin tires are manufactured, they are built to the standards that have made our products the benchmark for the industry.

We hope that this issue has been resolved or addressed to your satisfaction. If we can assist you further, please respond to this email or call us at 866-866-6605 (toll-free) between 8:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. EST Monday through Friday, or 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.

We appreciate your business and thank you for choosing Michelin.

Sincerely,

It is a dance around the question without answering it.
Ask for 2nd level answer and if it is their final answer.

Hopefully all 4 will work and behave the same.

I would like all 4 to be the same myself but I doubt it will be a issue.
