First up Purolator Classic cartridge from the Dodge van. These filters are Korean made branded P Classic. I continue to be impressed by these. Wish I had bought half a dozen more when I had the chance for under $4. This filter has 8k miles, 3k of which are hard towing duty this past summer with prolonged high'ish rpms. Looks perfect, should of run it further... decided to change the oil because the van sees about 10k per year and I didn't want to change the oil in the winter.

Next Honda Filtech OEM off the Honda. The Honda was purchased new in the spring, MM was at 15% @6k miles with the FF. Filter was in great shape, adbv very soft and pliable, can thick as thieves, bypass/leaf combo solid. No complaints.... as expected from a filtech:

Lastly, Suzuki OEM off the SFV. Great filter, tight specs, totally under used. The seam needs a pleat or two but the seam sealing method is very well done and rigid. 3k miles on OEM 10w40.

The Honda Filtech OEM has similar construction as the Toyota Denso filters. But the gaps at the end of the pleats sure looks large. I'm assuming there is glue/sealant in the end of each pleat end (?).

Yessir, gave a bunch of them the ol' toothpick test

What did you replace them with?

Rock Auto has some Carquest Blues for your van. Most likely the old Wix-made CQ's since AAP closed many Carquest stores. Look for Wix 84526 (same as Wix 57526 and Napa 7526).

Dodge: Same

Honda: Fram Ultra

I'm beginning to wonder if US made filters are behind in quality to Asian and German made ones.

(Excepting the possibility that VW / Audi filters have defeat devices built into them

)

Too general a perspective. The US made Filtech was every bit as good as any other foreign filter I've cut open.

I have a Denso (Made in Thailand) with ~16K KM's that will be up for cutting - will be interesting to see the quality.
