Just got a 2020 with 3.8 50k. I will be running Valvoline Advance 0w20 or should I say was, however looking at history of truck it's had oil changes at quick change every 7500 to 8k. They did change it before I picked it up. Stick is clean so I don't see a problem. Would you just run Advance or Restore. They both are supposed to help with GDI however I can't find anything about keeping the valves clean.

Congrats on the NTY vehicle.
Q 1: How many miles were on it when you got it?
Q 2: Did the quick change place itemize what oil they used?

The PO of my truck went to quick lube for conventional oil changes religiously. No complaint there.
I too got my truck in mid OCI so I left it in.

However, when I did my first OC, I used synthetic and the engine ran noticeably quieter.
I wonder how much better off the engine would be had the PO used synthetic oil.

You're likely just fine with the Advance formula or any other suitable oil.

Seriously, could the engine have subjected to severe running in searing heat with oil consumption throughout the OCI?
Likely not. You probably don't have cooked, coked, stuck rings.

Over on a Frontier board I frequent (I see you over here now too), there are owners of the 3.8L with 100K plus miles. I wouldn't go 7500mi on quick lube oil with them, but that's just my opinion. No reports of excessive intake valve deposits with them yet. FWIW, I run 5w30 in mine.

VRP is the hot ticket lately.. why not VRP? Perfect situation since you are a new owner of a used vehicle.

Checked oil and overfull. Debating if I should siphon out 1/2 qt. I bet the Nissan dealer put 6 qts instead of 5 the manual states. Manual states 5.3 qts.
