Ive been looking for this for quite a while, never been able to find anything about it. Is there such a thing as a ratchet screwdriver? I would love to use my 3/8" ratchet and attach some type of specialty socket so that I can use it as a screwdriver, is there something like this out there?

You can put the common screwdriver bits, that come in the various kits, into your 1/4 inch socket.
It is still easier and quicker to use the *correct* screwdriver (i.e. correct tip and proper length). With the ratchet, you will be applying the torque longitudinally and unless you manage to exert ample pressure on the head of the ratchet, you will most likely strip the screw. With a 4-6 inch extension, it is better but still the risk of slipping the bit is there.
I have an electric 1/4 ratchet which came with screw driver bits. But when a screw is tight, I reach for a real screw driver to break it free before using the ratchet.

It doesn't work as good as you would think on a ratchet but they do work great on a speed handle.
There are a lot of ratcheting screwdrivers out there.
Closest one to a fixed-blade screwdriver I know is from Snap-On, a SSDMR4B.
Closest to a ratchet is the Wera Zyklop being discussed in another thread.
The Snap-On is very narrow at the bit end, so can get into tight areas that others cannot. You can buy a bit adapter to go to either 1/4" or 3/8" sockets. The Wera is a ratchet that can also be a screwdriver, heavy emphasis on the ratchet though.

Agreed. Sears craftsman has a 7 piece 3/8 drive set. If you check out eBay, Williams has a 3/8 set. If you want to be cheap, harbor freight has a 7 piece 1/2 drive set.
Another posted also suggested a 6 point 1/4 socket where you can put in standard bits. Maybe tape them on. Has worked for me.
I personally like these tools when you're dealing with higher torque situations, while trying to avoid using the hand impact driver.

I had a set like that... still do somewhere. Seems only Hex, Torx, and Square work well. It's tricky to keep a phillips or flat from jumping the screw when used in a ratchet.
