2WD pickup with front locker. What's the point?

Definitely a locker in the rear, not the front. That's what the guy was looking at, making sure there was no pumpkin up front.

It's better than an open diff, most of the time--might get a bit squirrely once moving, if one tire breaks loose then both will, which of course can be when the fun starts.

To me, it's a truck with little weight out back with tires that don't like the dirt/mud it's encountering.

No, it doesn't say or show a front locking hub. Its a 2WD truck with a rear locker.

The hubcaps/covers mean nothing. Our 2WD F250's at work look identical, and we have tow hooks on them...

Speaking from experience, it takes very little to get them stuck. Wet grass or slightly slick mud, and we're done for...

Empty trucks are the first vehicle to spin out when it snows. I once almost got stuck in the parking lot by the beach with mine years ago.

How can you have a locker on the front when it's a 2WD? That part isn't on the truck.
That's why I was asking. Why would they be looking at the front if it has a rear locker?

It's just a cap that goes over the lugnuts, it's cosmetic. The front wheels are just free spinning at all times on a RWD only vehicle.
Looks something like these to me. If not, I understand.

"Trust but verify" comes to mind. When your eyes can confirm that there is no pumpkin up front then it must mean... it's 2WD.

Use some reasoning when you think. If there is no driven front axle then how could you "lock" the front axle? There is nothing to lock.

No. Those guys were just looking to see if it had the front differential

you might wanna watch it again
^^^ This ^^^ … met up with a guy down at the coast … he had bought an FJ with over sized AT’s …
He got stuck in no time … I pulled him to firm sand and looked under the front.
Told him he bought a bum steer and he needs to follow me back to the road. He got stuck again.
