As far as I can tell, most of there early appliance failure issues can be avoided by not buying Samsung or LG appliances.

OUR LG has what is called "Deep Wash" My wife and I use that setting all the time. I believe (EPA) regulations (?) require that the "Normal" setting use as little water as possible and it barely covers the clothes. I have heard complaints (family members) that the new washers do not clean as well (all brands)
So our "standard" setting that we use ALL the time is "Deep Wash". We never use "Normal" The top loader washer fills up all the way over the clothes and washers like washing machines used to wash when using Deep Wash. At the same time, it knows when the water level is nicely above the clothes. So even if you are doing a small load it will adjust to that. Somehow it fills just right over the clothes where plenty of water sloshes around. Our washer has a glass top to its easy to see. {purchased in 2022)
You can't open the lids anymore. They lock. Why you ask ???? So you're dog don't jump in, I dunno...No. The deep fill goes by weight of the load. Fancy, all this computerized washing machine nonsense, until the computers crap out out..LOL....I can look thru the lid and see that it most surely does not deep fill,,,, unless you have a big load of clothes in it. So, it's really not a lie. Just saving water. More soap in the clothes if you ask me. GIMME MY DEEP FILL !!!!!!!!!

Just this morning, I saw an ad on TV for LG appliances and it said that LG was the most reliable appliance manufacturer in the industry.
I got a big laugh out of that because I know better. I posted on this site awhile back about my SIL buying a $3K LG 'fridge and it died after 53 weeks with no factory warranty help on it whatsoever.
ALL appliances are junk, except the top tier chef type ones or restaurant ones. There all the same, just different names. I have Maytag washer and dryer. I service them. EVERYTHING behind those panels is Whirlpool. I have a GE dishwasher. Motherboard died. Guess what the OE replacement was.....WHIRLPOOL.........So yeah, go look at all the different names and prices. Behind all the panels will be Whirlpool. Be it a stove, a dishwasher, a washing machine, whatever. It's all the same junk, just re-branded. The average consumer gets garbage. You want something good ? Go to a fancy restaurant and write down what they are using. Hope you got a lot of $$$$$$....

The lock lid on this new machine is very short duration. At end of cycle it lasts about 10-15 seconds. Washed a load of towels yesterday, The towels smelled fresher than in recent memory after washing. Cycles without x-tra spins or rinses are still 45 minutes in length. The new washer is nice and has meet my expectations. BTW my old White/Westinghouse c. 1996 had a lock feature during spin cycles. The end of load load lock was several minutes.
If the machine says use " AFFRESH" in it, use it. Trust me. It destroys mold and mineral buildup in the machine. I didn't believe it at first, but it makes a difference. My old 2007 GE washer lasted 15 years,and I beat the crap out of that machine. NEVER had a breakdown.. They don't make stuff to last anymore. 5-6 yrs and there done nowadays. Planned absolescence

Sorry to hear this. Our fridge is a 2002 Kenmore Elite aka Maytag Amana Frigidaire, and I monitor temps daily to see it defrosts (freezer will see a high of 14F to 19F). Normally freezer is -5F to 3F. If so, all is good. Fridge is more varied in a happy state 38F. But frequent door opening can send the temp to 44F and it takes a long time to cycle it back to 39F.
Our washer is 2005. Kenmore Elite top load. Still good.
Our gas dryer is Dec 2023. Knock on wood no problems. The one it replaced was dated 1984 (previous home owner).
Appliances are a headache, nobody wants to spend major dollars and have a breakdown. Seems newer machines may not last as long. Good luck with the replacement.

We always use powder detergent and never liquid fabric softener. A clean washer run once a month and also leave the door open after a cycle. Never keep the door closed. Never had any issues of smell. We have an old Kenmore elite, which is LG manufactured washer.

TRUE. How can all brands NOT be similar junk these days. Since nearly every single part for nearly every single thing is MADE IN CHINA or MADE IN MEXICO. Seems like all companies have figured. "Heck, we can make everything with the cheapest parts we can find. Who cares about the quality?" I mean where? Where are the consumers gonna find anything better? When they all use the same cheap junk parts to max out profits? Who cares anymore about repeat business? No company. Who cares about reputation or quality? No company. They can't if they All use the same junk parts. The difference? Just the different plastic or thin metal name brand tags on each product.
I have a 2002 Kenmore/Whirlpool front loader washer and dryer, so old, they were purchased at a Sears Surplus store. One little LED segment burned out in the washer display. Otherwise, it is the same as the day I bought it. I leave the door open when not in use to prevent the mold/smell issues. The dryer has had its drive belt replaced about 7 years ago. I hope these units keep going forever.
I had a basic Kenmore washer and dryer from the late 70's. We raised a family of four children on those units. They ran pretty much daily. Replaced two water pumps myself as I recall. When we sold the house nearly 30 years later they still ran well. I wouldn't be surprised if they are still in operation.
I have what appears to be that same model. Start button doesn't work anymore. LG service is about $400 but includes the parts and 90 warranty on the repair.
I paid $715 plus tax in November '21 at Lowe's. I checked multiple places and the board itself is $300-$375 BUT it's on backorder at all the places. Repair Clinic which I used multiple times for other stuff said hopefully 9-17-25 for delivery. LG website says 9-27-25.
I need to call LG back tomorrow and ask what happens if they can't fix it or have the part? Refunds? Credit towards new.
This one replaced a 4 year old Samsung that had issues. They had a recall for broken lids, parts not available. They were going to give me new model instead or full refund since I had registered it and had receipt. I took the refund. My Samsung appliance experience for refrigerator and washer left a real bad trust. So far the LG washer is not faring better, LG fridge has some broken drawer wheels that also are not covered. Sad overall.

my set is relatively new as i bought my house in october.
Moms GE refrigerator is going on 25 years
Dads GE died at 30 years
grandparents GE is going on roughly 20 years
mom’s whirlpool washer and dryer set is 15 years old handed down from my grandparents
my dad’s set of whirlpool washer and dryers are going on 20ish years after having 5 people worth of clothes washed through them, then when i broke out into oil and gas it had my heavy FRC’s going through them. he offered to sell them to me but i wanted a new set to go with the rest of my new appliances.
