25 year service anniversary gift from my employer

I have recieved several emails promising gifts at service year milestones. Then I got an email with "the sincerest thanks" for putting out a fire, promising a really great gift was on the way. That was about three years ago. LOL

Been back n forth with my managers over a meal entitlement - it’s pretty darn substantial and they keep trying to run up the headcount and use the full amount …
Finally had to tell them that I can list a smaller group that’s fully capable of that 😎 (kings for the moment) …

My five year pin from my at the time employer, the supervisor walks by and tosses it on my work bench and says "here ya go" and walks off, yeah had some great bosses at that nice place. :(
At least they actually delivered something. I had a co-worker get an email from our company telling him to order something from an on line cataloge for his 20th. He did and waited. And waited. Nothing for months. He sent a follow up email, no response. He gave up.

Then about 5 years later he got a call from the plant warehouse. Told him they could barely make out his name on a box, but they didn't want to move it, and asked him to stop by. He had no idea what they called about. He goes to the warehouse and they direct him to a crushed cardboard box in a corner with literally an inch of dust on it. It was his gift, crushed, from 5 years ago, LOL.

Awesome. Congrats and excellent choice.
My five year gifts were:
-Tie pin (I was annoyed with choices, so "I'll show them!" ...... and order something stupid.

Congrats on your 25 years! Imho it stands for something sand and the gift is a small token to recognize it. 👍

I just finished 25 years with my airline in January.

I wasn’t expecting anything special but, boy, was I ever wrong.

After landing and parking at the gate, I received an ACARS ( like a fax ) in the cockpit that seemed very long and wondered what flight dispatch was sending us.

Turns out, it wasn’t from flight dispatch, it was a message sent by my base manager congratulating me on 25 years and giving me and my wife first class tickets ( confirmed ) anywhere we want to go.

Bonus….1 extra week of vacation after 25 years.

Edit: My manager said he would have preferred to congratulate me personally but he wasn’t going to be at the airport later when we arrived back at our base.

Nice to know one of your managers is aware of the extra mile you go and points that out while congratulating you.

Too bad I didn’t get compensation for the 80,000 litres of fuel I save them every month on average.

That would be great extra passive income😂

Hit my 10 year anniversary on a Friday at an old job and got laid off with about 150 other people the following Monday. I asked HR if I was still going to get my 10 year anniversary gift, they said yes. I can’t remember what it was, I think I chose a gift card from a catalog of choices.

My current employer gives you a month off to travel and kicks in a sizable chunk of cash to do so every 5 years.
