24 Powerboost 2K review

For those of you that own a powerboost with the max tow option, there is a recall on the axles with a permanent fix finally. I will be getting my third and hopefully final set of axles installed this Friday.

Check out post #637

Finally.

Wish I had that option, but I don't necessarily need it and I'm glad to not have the axle problem. I even checked today and (at least the rear one) mine was full of gear lube. Guess they've been randomly underfilling them as well.

In case anyone needed proof that physics doesn't give a crap about your hybrid.

This is my mileage log up to current day (we're halfway through the trip).

The last couple of days in Iowa, Minnesota, and South Dakota have been absolutely brutal for towing a travel trailer. If I were retired I would have pulled over and waited a day or two. It was absolutely miserable and looking at the data it looks like it was anywhere from 20-30 mph, both head on and quartering. We started off at 70mph (I'll accept 9mpg for that) but eventually pulled back to 65, then 60. Still, the 3.5 drinks like a drunken sailor. Add to that 105-108 deg temps, higher boost, and that ECU is just dumping fuel to keep things alive.

Definitely the worst time I've ever had towing, but we're in the Black Hills now and it is fantastic. Hopefully We'll have a tail wind on the way home.

--Edit--

The travel trailer is a full 8 foot wide 29 foot tip-to-tail model, weighing in at about 6600-6800 depending on what our tank situation is.
