202X Ford Maverick

Ford has already manufactured a vehicle like this from 2001-2010, the Sport Trac. It looks like it was almost identical in size to this new truck, and it was pretty popular. I don't know why they are calling the new one Maverick, they should have just used the Sport Trac name, people would have understood what it is.

The Sport Trac was larger and body on frame, and the second gen even offered a V8, but I agree it would have been an appropriate use of the name since the crew cab Ranger has taken the Sport Trac's place in the lineup.

The first gen (Explorer) Sport Trac essentially was a crew cab Ranger, but it was more valuable to pad Explorer sales ("most popular SUV") than Ranger sales, so it was called an Explorer.

Interesting rear bumper design, including the 7 pin trailer harness. They must be planning on giving it some actual towing specs.
