Lord have mercy. When the men of this world get excited over a bean with an electric motor it's obvious that .... 1. Men have become wusses... 2. Henry Ford and Carroll Shelby are mad as haell... 3. In 5000 years when and if people discover the nuclear waste and the skeletal remains of 5 yr olds in cobalt mines they will ask "What were they thinking?".
I'm not sure if this is trolling or what, but like... next you're going to tell me that I like EVs because I'm (three letter word).
On a more serious note, people like different things. Have you driven or been driven in a good EV? They're QUICK... that's plenty exciting. You know what else is exciting? Waking up every morning with a "full tank" and never needing to go get gas. Oh and no need for oil changes. Brakes last forever.
As for the environmental impact, EVs are the only cars that get cleaner over time. As the grid and renewables improve, the "fuel" used to power it gets cleaner and cleaner. While you're gas car either uses the same amount of gas it did when new or potentially more as it ages.
It's already proven that EVs are environmentally better overall after less than 30,000 miles, despite being "worse" up front.
Many companies are investing hard in trying to figure out how to recycle battery packs, cells, and materials. All sorts of projects ranging from using worn out Nissan Leaf batteries as grid scale battery backup to Redwood Materials, which was founded by a co-founder of Tesla. Over time these things will get cleaner and cleaner.
I do not buy an EV for environmental or political reasons. I have it because I like it. And yes it excites me. Even the Bolt, which is a "cheap and cheerful" car, not a high performance vehicle, is exciting in that it delivers a lower cost per mile over its lifespan than literally any other new car in its price range. Or a used one that is half the price is way better than most other used vehicles in its price range.
