I personally don't care as long as the app support for my apps is there. Carplay (and/or Android Auto) is not the be all, end all of computing. Not bad but:
that's dumb as all get out
One of my objections to Tesla when we got our EVs was they didn't have YouTube Music, which is my music app of choice. But now that Tesla has YouTube Music, that would be one less objection. I don't care that it doesn't have Carplay or Android Auto. It just needs to support my apps.
There's a long list of devices in the history of technology that were good but lacked app support, that ultimately failed. Windows Phone 7 and the newer BlackBerries come to mind. They weren't bad devices but didn't have the app support.
Oh sure the Apple Afficionados will complain up a storm, but at the end of the day it's all about the apps.
