2027 Chevrolet Bolt - Revealed

Not bad but:

that's dumb as all get out
I personally don't care as long as the app support for my apps is there. Carplay (and/or Android Auto) is not the be all, end all of computing.

One of my objections to Tesla when we got our EVs was they didn't have YouTube Music, which is my music app of choice. But now that Tesla has YouTube Music, that would be one less objection. I don't care that it doesn't have Carplay or Android Auto. It just needs to support my apps.

There's a long list of devices in the history of technology that were good but lacked app support, that ultimately failed. Windows Phone 7 and the newer BlackBerries come to mind. They weren't bad devices but didn't have the app support.

Oh sure the Apple Afficionados will complain up a storm, but at the end of the day it's all about the apps.

I would wager the majority of people buying a newer EV are probably the opposite but that’s me. I’m around teenagers all day long though so I get a feel for what they like/don’t like as the younger generation.

The young people I interface with seem to love Teslas. EVs in general, but Teslas in particuliar.
Does this jive with your experience?

For the most part yeah but mainly because Tesla is such a household name nowadays. But they love their IPhones, which means they love their Apple carplay.

Look like a much nicer version of the prior car, and one that can be more than an "in town" car.

Does it have the same HVAC/Charging conflict that the other GM products have?

Sales of Teslas in the third quarter 25 are 7% higher than the third quarter 24.
Yeah, end of the tax credit is a $7500 incentive... And for other EVs as well.
How business handles the next few quarters is the real question. Tesla has the margins to eat some of the loss; others' EV business will suffer more. As sales volumes decline, procurement costs rise due to poor economy of scale and fixed costs are spread over fewer units.

Interesting times ahead. I think Tesla missed their opportunity to produce a $25K EV.

Im confused?
If it's about the apps then why would you want Google YouTubeMusic to be supported and not Apples Music and mapping apps?
Apple is my choice just like Google is yours if this is what you are talking about. Just trying to understand being you didnt like Tesla because they didnt support YouTube.

I guess maybe YouTube works like the Apple Music in a Tesla? In as much you have to use your phone to control the music and cannot control it from the cars touchscreen.

I get the position that as long as you can get to the apps you need the ecosystem doesn't matter to you. Waze is Waze.

One can scrounge their way around just about any type of kludged setup and make it work, I have for years with Japanese cars and US phones, but thats not my preference.

When they actually made the 35K model 3 few to none bought it.
My understanding is a lot of the entry level 3 preorders were never filled; some upgraded but many others cancelled. I met a guy in our Petaluma home neighborhood with a very early Model 3; he told me he ordered the strippie but Tesla never delivered. They tried to get him to upgrade, but he stuck to his guns, said no and would not cancel. Tesla ultimately gave him the better car for the $35K price.

Prior to 2020ish, Tesla was kinda the only game in town the new kid on the block, the thing to spend too much money on. Now Teslas are everywhere, there's tons of competition; the market is moving into to growth stage. The early game is over.

Tesla is making too many auto BU mistakes. Will they ever make a profit on the Cybertruck? The strippie 3 barely makes sense and the Y is a bummer. Not to mention Musk blind sided his hugely loyal customer base when he opened his mouth and pocketbood a year ago.

I have to believe the market would have rewarded TSLA if they had made the right moves. But they didn't. The biggest thing the Tesla auto business has is their margin strength as compared to the rest of EV market.

Just my 2 cents... Your thoughts?

I literally have kids in busses and walking down the road yelling that they love my Tesla. I know it sounds made up, but it happens every time I'm around the school picking up my kid and it's multiple different kids. They love these cars.

It took a long while before they started shipping the cheap car and tesla never advertised or promoted it and in fact made it difficult to order and get.

I dont think they will ever get rightside up on cyber.
Not pushing back on the boss is how you end up with a rig like that.

They have the best manufacturing tech, which lets the make great margin, and make a great car for the money.
Monetizing the charging network was really smart.

It's still the best EV travel experience by a wide margin.

It will be interesting to see where the product line goes how Q4 ends up.

EVs have been around for awhile. As expected, competition emerged, but so far has not been able to successfully make a profit.
Tesla's competition; heck everybody's competition, is China, a formidable opponent.

There is rumor of Tesla mulling the idea of the $25K Tesla in China.

GM will take a $1.6 billion charge from its EV plans not playing out as anticipated. Ouch...
Interesting times ahead, especially for students of the business gambit. I'll be watching.

They don't know any different/never tried anything else, most likely. But I don't disagree that these kids have formed an iPhone borg. This goes along with the blue bubbles/green bubbles where Android users are shunned.

I will readily admit that I feel a smug sense of satisfaction when users are told they can't have their Apple stuff. There's a lot that is tied up with this, the blue/green bubbles, the closed interface of Facetime, the walled garden where Apple forces you into using their devices to interface with their services, and so on.

For the OEMs, some may abandon the vehicle in favor of one that offers Carplay. For those who are willing to try the manufacturer interface, the app support has to be there.

The Apple cult is strong! There's good reason for it; they are rock solid built, easy to use (I guess), pretty, etc.
Having said that, some Apple die hards, including young people, are tiring of the high cost and moving, or considering to move, to Andriod. I've had numerous questions about the Google Pixel.

One company sells products and services to make its money but goes out of its way to protect my data and me even to the point of angering some authorities trying to usurp the law.

The other company makes money from advertising by selling my data and personal information, or allowing their associates and apps to buy, steal, and or leak it with not a care in the world about me.
