I’m located in north Florida-
See some old threads on this topic but nothing recent. Polaris recommends 5w50 Polaris brand oil in these motors. Seems odd to me for water cooled motors.
Looking for up to date oil recommendations for these SXS’s as I don’t trust “branded” oils.
I use Rotella T6 15w40 in my tractor but don’t see a 5w50 listing.
??

Mobil 1 makes a 5w-50 under FS and Supercar. Either would be fine, with the latter being over kill. Additionally a stout HDEO 40wt would be fine.

It only is for the engine, no wet clutch or shared case so just about anything meeting the viscosity needs would suffice.

I use FS 5W50 in our Polaris ATV's. On sale at Napa for $6.99/qt. No issues running Hatfield/McCoy last summer in 95*F+heat and humidity. Quicksilver is another brand that I've had good luck with, although the price has gone up.

I ran Mobil 1 15W50 in my wife's old Rancher for that trip and it performed well too, especially for an air-cooled engine.

I would run the recommended viscosity until out of warranty.

The only Polaris ATV/UTV's I am aware of that used a wet clutch were the Predator and Outlaw.
Thanks, I forgot that Polaris is an outlier in the UTV world and technically speaking, utilizes a dry clutch in their PVT. Regardless, T6 Rotella is a robust oil that many people use for them. Most other UTV's run a wet clutch like system.

If you're looking with something that has high ZDDP take a look at the Kohler 10-30 semi syn oil, there are some oil analysis threads on it here.

I used Rotella T6 5w40 in my Polaris Ranger 800 xp for 13 years in South Carolina with 0 issues. Also used Mobil 1 or Fram oil filters as both oil and filters were readily available at wally world. Bonus was that the filters were the same for my wife's Honda CRV.
