Just completed the 500 initial break in oil change. Will likely dump around 3000 then move to 4 to 5k changes. Also installed magnetic drain plug. Oil filter is a little different than other cap style designs.

oil filter on top is nice, use a oil extractor to make changes easy, oh by the way I see you are using really good oil.

Thanks. Actually filter is on bottom but very easy to access no covers to remove. Went the HPS RP. While probably overkill like the added ZDDP, moly and boron. Also the oxidation is above 30% so it has a good amount of group 4 and 5 base stock.

Only thing is I can't find a media glass filter from either Puralater or Wix only the standard cellulose media. No aftermarket exhuast for me especially being a 4 banger. You simply can't make one sound good no matter what I've tried on a few 4 cylinders. Did a Magnaflow cat back dual exit on my 3.6 JT it sounds really good for a V6.

If you plan to keep ultra long time, changing the transmission filter early might be a worthy cause. When you adding the Borla exhaust to your new car?
Absolutely plan on changing fluid at around 10k. Did that on my Gladiator at 8k and again at 18k. Hardly any debris second change.

Can’t change the transmission filter without removing the transmission and splitting the case… but fluid changes are easy and should be done regularly.

This one has an actual pan with drain plug. Still have not found any information on it though.

Wife's 2020 elantra with 2.0 and ivt got 43mpg today going to Cleveland Clinic and back. with a side trip to

Das Schnitzel Haus for lunch

The highway trip to cleveland before city driving part was 46.6 that is with 70mph no ac and General AS-05 UHP tires.
With stock tires it was easily 5% better mpg.

so I'd expect you to see 40+ on highway driving if you keep it under 75mph.

I wouldnt be afraid to buy one new.. 10yr/100k mile warranty.

The 2020 elantra got a new engine last year at 40000 miles.

So far I really like it. For under 30k and the warranty it comes with alone its hard to beat. Great technology, gas mileage, stylish and fit and finish is quite good given price point. I would venture to say it gives cars in the 40 to 50k a run for the money. The road noise is quite minimal as well.

I think Hyundai and Kia get a bad rap because most of the clientele who drive them are cheap skates who do the bare minimum sometimes less when it comes to maintaining. Not to mention they get treated like a rental. It's rare I see a nice one unless brand new or fairly new. Just my two though.

To give you idea how much prices went up, the 2020 Elantra was MSRP 22k in 2019 we paid $16
Which was a pretty good deal.
