Honda Civic for 2025 is giving the BITOGers choice non turbo 150 hp 2.0 L or a pretty amazing 2.0 hybrid with 200 hp /232 ft lbs torque delivering around 50 MPG city/highway with likely 0-60 in 6 seconds. Apparently it has really comfortable front seats.

Dependent on how my job from contract to full time goes I might be in market for commuter(46 miles each way in 50 mins) like this or slightly used EV with the free charging at work.

I was wondering when they would come out with another Civic hybrid. I know they made them years ago but not lately. There are lots of Accord hybrids out there and Toyota Corolla hybrids as well. 200 hp is plenty for a little Civic. I wouldn't mind having one myself since I love getting great mileage.

If you're going to be spending a lot of time on the hwy, consider the larger Accord for more comfort. But the Civic sounds like a great choice as well.

Read a couple nice reviews for 2025 Civic hybrid. Fwiw, I consider buying one.

Since Accord mentioned as an option, only one I would consider now is the 2.0L Hybrid model. Stay away from the 1.5L, I've read about far too many head gasket issues with it

I thought about a Civic but they are just too low, lower into and climb out of. My CR-V is pretty much laterally in/out. The hybrid Civic was tempting though. Anyone not spoiled by the comfort/ease of the CR-V will likely be very pleased with it. If I was driving 100 miles a day I'd have to reconsider but I drive ~300 miles a month.

The hybrid may be a more enjoyable car to drive but keep in mind that, while hybrids shine in city/suburban driving, there’s really minimal fuel economy benefit in highway driving. If your commuting would mostly highway consider avoiding the extra cost/complexity of a hybrid and stick with the ICE version.

As the owner of a new 2025 CRV hybrid I have to say the technology is really impressive but also really complex. Don’t even want to think about the cost of repairing the hybrid bits. If you go the hybrid consider an extended Honda warranty from a dealer like Sacucci.

I went on a long road trip in a brand new 2022 as a 6'0 large texan, the seats were comfortable and the 1.5T had plenty of power. I absolutely hated the constant steering correction. That new engine will be interesting, but hybrids have never been their strong suit.

The Civic hybrid has been out in non USA parts of the world for more than a year, and it is NOT particularly fast. Every review I've seen put the 0-60mph (100 kmh) at slower than the 1.5T. And the current 1.5T is slower than the early non-VTEC version engine, which I think relates to CVT tuning parameters.

Don't take me wrong, I'm hoping the new hybrid lives up to expectations. I'm just not convinced yet.

Looks like non-hybrid Civic can get up to 42mpg today, or 47mpg for next year's hybrid? 12% fuel savings, don't know about what the upfront cost, but 12% is a decent improvement.

I see that for CRV's the hybrid does what you indicate though, it's highway mpg doesn't improve very much over non-hybrid.

I know for my wife's Camry hybrid, going from regular ICE to hybrid was a bump from 39mpg to 53mpg for highway. That was pretty big. Wish I had gotten the Corolla hybrid, instead of 38 I could be above 50 also.

.
Jetta is close to those numbers especially on the highway ( civic is 47 highway) and it is around 7k less , (civic hybrid starts at 30k) almost as quick and looks a little more adult IMO... Nicer interior as well.

2025 HONDA HR-V hybrid may be on the way to the U.S.A.. The rear MAGIC seat could be back . Great feature for the past FITs and HR-V which never should been removed .

The 2025 gas HR-V is out.

Was very disappointed that it didn't even get a facelift as expected.

No magic seat for U.S. , looks like all trim levels of the HR-V hybrid in Europe , Australia and other countries do have the magic seat . Bad move  . Also looks like the front is redesigned and looks more 😠 .

I would love to see what kind of MPG I could get from a Civic hybrid if I could borrow one for a few weeks because I’m already able to average 50 MPG in my 2.0L Civic over long periods of time (I recently averaged that over a a few weeks and 1000 miles of my regular driving) That being said even if it got me 70 MPG, it’s still more financially smart for me to stick with my current Civic for many years to come, it hasn’t cost me anything in repairs since I bought it three years ago.

Averaging 50? What's the average speed in your trip meter if it shows you.

It doesn’t show me my average speed but my best guess would be that it’s around 40-50 mph. I don’t drive it much in city type of conditions and don’t get stuck in too much stop and go either. I’m a bit of a hyper miler with this car, I don’t do short trips at all, I’m very gentle on the gas and I try to do a lot of coasting where possible. I also stay close to the speed limit a lot. I’m the complete polar opposite type of driver when I’m behind the wheel of my Corvette though 🤣
