On the vehicle for 6 months, 1495 miles.
PY8W-14-302A-MV & whatever MZDS-YN-5W30-BK is went back in. Since I'll basically be wasting oil & filters, I'll probably just use what I can source, Total Quartz 9000 5W-30 going forward.

As a different dealers parts person, I assume the oil part number is a generic bulk oil part number, I'm cool with the Mazda parts manager at my dealer so I'll ask him next time I go in. If someone knows let me know.

The metal crimp was almost impossible to separate from the end caps, some flakes in the pleats, nothing to bad. No anti-drain back valve?

Looks good. No anti-drain back valve needed as filter sits vertically. My understanding is the engine must have something that prevents oil from draining back down into filter.

Turbo Filter part number is PY8W-14-302 (The MV you have is the made in Mexico value version.)

Why would there be something to prevent oil from draining back down into filter That's what you want so you don't have dry starts

Does the Mazda filter from the dealer also not have a ADBV? ... the posted filter was the factory installed filter. Is there some kind of "check valve" built into the engine that doesn't require a ADBV?

Regardless of a filter's mounting orientation, a ADBV will still prevent any flow from the galleries above the filter from draining down through the oil filter. And if it's mounted vertical base down above the engine, it also would be beneficial to have a ADBV.

Mazda OEM filters do not have ADBV. I would think their would have to be a check valve in engine? I'm not sure but would make sense.
