2024 Frontier - add trans drain plug?

There is no aftermarket pan for the Frontier that I have seen, There is one for the Mercedes 9 speed, and it does have a drain plug (still plastic) but no one has confirmed it fits that I know of. You might want to search around clubfrontier - I haven't been there in a while.

or page @JTK - he has one and is a regular member here.

The filters are held in by the pan itself, so a metal one would be pretty complex for someone to make - my guess is it will always be molded unless someone wants to mill an aluminum one.

Can I add Drain Plug to 2024 Nissan Frontier with Plastic Transmission Fluid Pan?
Is there NO plug?
Generally they all have it and it's 2 stage plug as it function as draing and level check
at a set fluid temperature, otherwise with no deep-stick how will you know the level?

Just how thick is the pan? An STI-tapped hole and helicoil might work. Not sure I'd want a Timesert in plastic?

This is the aftermarket SKP pan for the equivalent Mercededes transmission. It has a drain plug - its a recessed hex and appears to be redesigned to handle it. No one has confirmed if this will fit the Nissan variant yet to my knowledge. Perhaps the OP will spend the $65 to find out?

I likely would not drill the OEM pan.

As @SC Maintenance linked, any pan kit designed for a Mercedes Benz 9G-tronic transmission should fit the Nissan Jatco copy of this transmission. There is a drain plug already on these pans, but it's a multi function port. There is a dust cover of sorts over the hole that you first thread out. Underneath that is a port where a special indexing key is inserted. Depending on which way you index the key, sets the port to fill mode, drain mode or level check mode. The 9G-tronic "fluid service kit" set can be had cheaply online. Maxlife ATF covers the MB specs for this transmission as well, if you're OK with universal "suitable for use" fluids.

Those two stubs you see below the pan in the pic; One is a riser that snaps on the inside of the multi function port. The other tube snaps into the inside of the pan further away and acts as a fluid level equalizer.

Do the cooler line exchange and there is no need to drop the pan. The “filter” aka a rock catcher should be good until 50k without issues.
A cooler line exchange and then a pan change somewhere in the 50-60K mile range would be ideal. There's two different filters bonded into these pans as well as magnets of course. I believe one of the filters goes to the electric pump, the other to the mechanical pump.

Another fun fact, the only outside connection to this 9spd is power, ground, canbus high and canbus low. 4 wires. Everything is done over the canbus. If you loose electrical, you are dragging these mofos onto a flatbed. There is zero means to mechanically get it into neutral.

Having the two different pumps:
Does this affect Cooler Line Exchange?
DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO PROPERLY DO THE EXCHANGE ON THIS TRANSMISSION? VIDEO?

No. It won't effect a cooler line exchange, but I wouldn't attempt a DIY fluid line exchange until you familiarize your self with the level check and fill procedure with the plastic tool kit. It's not rocket science. Just kind of fiddly looking. I have not done one on my Frontier yet. I'm at about 41K miles on it.

Search youtube for MB 9G-Tronic fluid changes. There's a bunch of them. There is also a 2022 Frontier owner who posted a video of a drain/fill he did on his. There is a 2022 owner on a Frontier board I frequent that pierced his transmission pan with a stick while doing some light offroading. The dealer charged him a ton for a new pan and fluid of course.

What I really would like is Accurate/Detailed Instructions to use Transmission Cooler lines for fluid Exchange Not using Proffessional Flush Machine for 2024 Nissan Frontier.

ALSO WISH AMSOIL WOULD HAVE ULV Transmission Fluid with the Specs Needed.

I wonder if anybody has tried Amsoil Signature Series Fuel Effecient in this Transmission....Work? NOT?
Thanks Everyone
Keep the Discussion Going.

I would do a drain and fill per the Nissan procedure and use Nissan fluid. its not that expensive and these transmissions can be picky

Nissan Matic-P ATF is around $40/qt retail at a Nissan parts counter. I see Z1 Offroad lists it at $28.56 per quart. From what I've seen it's a amber/greenish colored fluid out of the Nissan bottle. I can see the value of running genuine Nissan Matic-P while under warranty, just so what drains out isn't your standard red ATF. Beyond warranty, I would for sure use a name brand suitable for use ATF.

I am testing HPL GreenCC (6.3 cSt LV) in 4-speed auto (2012 Frontier Pro-4X) and it is doing very well. HPL has the "TEAL" version which is a ULV of about 4.5cSt.
