Hi all,

I just purchased a 24 Expedition a few weeks ago. The light in the photo has come on twice while driving. Once for me and once for my wife. No noticeable difference in performance. I cannot find this light in the owner manual and there was not a message in the gauge cluster explaining it. Any ideas?

And the owner’s manual said it was…?

I was going to say reverse brake assist not available.

It's not a fault, so warranty is irrelevant.

"No action is needed unless an information message appears". And that didn't happen.

I4m guessing the Pre-Collision Assist works off a camera behind the wind screen. Low sun or very bad rainfall can blind the camera.
Rainfall yes-low sun-shouldn't. I have adaptive cruise control in my 2023 Silverado. In GM's infinite wisdom I sometimes get a adaptive cruise control fault because there is not a defroster up behind the rear view mirror. When it ices up-the camera can't "see". When the whole cab gets warm enough- the ice melts and it goes away.

With that being said- after spending 60 large I would use the service department as a resource-but that's just me.

Thank you everyone for the great and timely responses. It is the adaptive brake assist as some of you have noted. I couldn't identify that image in the owner's manual, it didn't look the same to me.

The conditions were very dense fog when it happened to my wife. I don't remember the conditions when I was driving. I am confident there is no issue after reading everyone's responses. I really do love BITOG!

I don't like going back to the dealership or service department. I'm not going to let them do the two "free" tire rotations and oil changes, I'll do it myself. This is the first new car I have bought, and it has so much technology in it it's a bit overwhelming. It was a courtesy vehicle with about 2,500 miles on the clock. I did get a discount for the mileage.

Thanks Everyone

The new tech is certainly developing rapidly, but integration to real reliance is odd. My wife’s car has active lane assist - meaning it will gently weight the steering wheel to usher you back into your lane. It’s cool when it works. It works for 200 ft, then can’t see the lane, works again in a moment, and then not - completely dependent on the road paint in that moment. You can’t rely on it. And if there’s a crosswind or you are in a habit of active lane positioning, it’s a pain the a** and really a distraction.

I recently drove a Yukon with the same feature and felt GM did a better job with it, but it was still inconsistent based on road conditions.

The emergency braking assist could save a lot of accidents, damage and lives. I hope that one is well-sorted.

What car is that? I was really impressed with the Toyota Safety Sense in the 2024 Corolla I drove, but our family's Hondas don't do lane keep or cruise control as well (I think the 2019 Accord Hybrid is OK for adaptive cruise, but the 2016 Pilot is jerky)

She wants absolutely nothing to do with the added safety features. She says the brake assist slams on the brakes when someone merges. I think she just has a habit of not letting people in.
