2024 Colorado ZR2 first impressions

2019 so 3rd, didn't think I would say this, but more rugged than 4th gen Taco and less vulnerable to rot and other problems of Gen I, II PLUS I have a 6 speed MT! But not really fair because the engine is OV tuned and I regeared (4.88) and added lockers.
 
I feel I’m in good company and we all have interest in the basic focus of this thread, whether Colorado or not.

My daily is a 5th Gen 4Runner, my toy is an 85 M1009, and I’ve been watching ads for years waiting for the perfect low mileage ZR2 Blazer.

I'm not really partial to any brand. If any I'd say more Toyota just for their legendary reliability. I get that things change though. Most manufacturers seem to have a car that I like and I find are decent. I do think GM did a nice job on the 3rd gen Colorado/Canyon.

Interesting how the GM has the most refined interior. Historically that has never been the case.

You realize I own that S-10, since new, so it’s a joke, right?

Nothing wrong with daily driving a blazer. Probably gets better MPGs than some newer SUVs.

It's funny though in the Canyon video the guy says the seats are less comfortable than - well sounds like he was talking about the Tacoma. I have zero problem with my seats but aren't the seats one of the Tacoma hate points?

My Taco was $30K, I wonder what they would give me in trade, because I would buy the Canyon if it wasn't $50K. Good lawd! But I do like it!

Yes, Tacoma seats were uncomfortable in the top trombone my FIL owned for a time. Doubly so because the cab was cramped. And it was a crew cab. And it’s not like my S-10 is big by any stretch for a 6ft 4 person. I suspect that the canyon has fixed that, if I’m not mistaken it’s more like the Dakota used to be - not full size but not small.

Yes. You said you had your S10 since new. We already knew that. I was simply complementing on your truck.

I have never **** on someone else’s ride saying a Toyota was better.

Sorry for the misread on comments. That’s on me.

Sometimes those “you realize” comments can be misinterpreted like I did.

The comments about Toyota is just the different factions and opinions one reads in the various threads. Not necessarily this one specifically…
 
One of the things I find interesting about new cars...we all know they aren't perfect, and they can have little head-scratching quirks.

My ZR2...put the turn signal on for a right hand turn and it cancels so hard that it triggers the left hand signal as if you were just going to activate it for a lane change lol...

Yeah, I was stumped on that one, too. Now I'm trying to see if there are zerks to grease periodically (haven't actually tried to climb under) but I don't think so...

I'd take that over the "toggle" turn signals in my '11 SuperDuty!!
 
when i crashed out my 2008 basic collly on ice i had already been interested in a fronty with a manual + after searching on line i got a lo mile 2011 fronty SV 4 wd reliable + good torque 4.0 v6 6 spd manual + last check after going to ALL redline drivetrain i average 18 mpg in the summer, thought 18 thou was expensive for it with under 30 thou on the clock BUT a bargain today$$$$. by the by nice ride bit too $$$ for me + NO stick!! i miss my smaller anemic 4 bang standard cab for its size, but thats all the fronty rides + drives MUCH BETTER + NO payments $$

I have a slider in one of my three trucks - my S-10. I can count on one hand how many times I’ve actually opened it.

I get that it would be a hassle to open and close it in a crew cab design, but that sure seems like a maintenance hassle waiting to happen.

Works fine on the son in law's crew Tacoma, I open mine all the time (Access cab) - well I mean in the summer. Just seems odd, not sure who else offers it.

We had a 2014 Nissan Frontier SV with a rear sliding window. It was never opened in the seven plus years we owned it.

A manual that is right behind the seat in a single cab truck is pretty easy to access. Yet I didn’t.

Maybe I’m just too addicted to AC?
