2023 Blazer - Pick my filter

Last month, I purchased a 2023 Chevrolet Blazer w/ the 2.0L LSY engine. I planned on going with the OEM PF66, but looking at some C&Ps, I think there is better. It's under warranty, but I'm not worried about it, they can't deny me claims for a warranty unless its the filters fault directly.

Here are the options:

MicroGard MSL10351
Pronto PO99495
Parts Plus PH10066
WIX WL10351
ACDelco PF66

The Pronto and Part Plus are most likely the same filter. I'm surprised PG doesn't make a extended performance version of the PG99495, even though they make the MSL10351.

First three are PG. I like the Microgard Select because it’s easy to get for me as well as CQP.

I do like the Microgard Select filters. You can also get the ACDelco UPF66R @ $7.50 each from Rock Auto. I hear they aren't bad.

PG made all the way. Pick any one you want.

Go OEM. I think the PG XL's are better than the AC Delco's though, but you certainly can't go wrong going with them.

How about the UPF66R?

You’re asking and you get opinions….
What if the non-AC Delco filter were to come apart etc. causing internal engine damage?
You would have more of an issue getting warranty coverage than if the Delco filter did the damage.
My opinion….just use the Delco.

My OCI will be 4-5k miles. The UPF66R looks like a good filter. I emailed GM and asked about it and they said the bypass PSI was too high.

I see where you are coming. IMO, I trust the PG made filters more than the PF66 at the moment. Looks like Champ is still having some issues with their bypass leaf springs. I will probably stick with ACDelco until warranty expires or a really good deal on PG filters comes up.

Any premium Guard as in STP XL, MICROGUARD SELECT or CARQUEST PREMIUM

I don't understand GMs take on that. The UPF66R has a higher bypass because it has a thicker can and "better" media. They're the same filter. The PF66 is the "standard" and the UPF66R is the "premium" version.

I have no clue, I think they got it all wrong on my inquiry. They were saying the UPF66R should only be used on the V6 Blazer, which is wrong. It should be the UPF63R. I'm going to email them back and see what they say about it.

Not that they can deny a warranty claim if you’re using an aftermarket filter that’s appropriate fitment, but I’d stick with the delco if not available a Wix or microgard are excellent choices

Update, it looks like now they are saying it is a correct fitment and can be used. However, they say it isn't in their parts catalogue, even though it is.

It may not be BITOG's flavor of the month, but it's an option for you if nothing else. You can mail order them for about $10/ea all-in off RA. I've been running them on my 2021 Equinox 1.5T and 2021 Traverse 3.6L at a 4500-5000mi OCI, at least until my 5yr/60K warranty is up. I'm close. I've got about 53K on each.

Bypass setting isn't based on the can thickness.
