2022 Polaris Sportsman 570 EPS

My friend has this machine and asked me about changing his oil. It seems that Polaris recommends their 5w50 synthetic which seems pricey.
What is the consensus on using more commonly available oils? It seems the Fram motorcycle oil filter 6017a is spec'd but I'm thinking the 7317 would work. Thoughts?

Do you think a 5w40 like Mobil 1, QS or Castrol would work as well as the Delo? What about a 10w40 motorcycle oil?

no doubts a euro 0/5w-40 would work just as well. M1 0w-40 would probably be the better of them.

i’ve always used HDEO in OPE as taught by my father.

I'm guessing that many ATV owners are using regular store bought 40 weight oils but I'll probably tell my friend to make tht decision himself so that I'm not blamed if any issue arises. AA caries a 5w50 Castrol synthetic but only 1 store in my 30 mile radius has it in stock and that's a 'Carquest' store. I'm wondering what the difference between the Fram 6017a and 7317 is?

* After typing this reply I went to Fram's website and they list the Fram Ultra 6607 as well as the 6017a for the Polaris Sportsman 570EPS so at least I can tell him to use the more readily available (and probably more efficient) 6607.

I use the 6017A and 6607 interchangeably on my snowmobile and outboard. They haven't blown up yet...
