This run of HPL 5w-40 HDEO has a total of 25,233 miles and 579 hours on the oil and has been in service since 8/10/2022 (22 months). This sample has about 3,000 miles since the last sample and has only about 1,000 of those miles pulling and 2,000 miles driving unloaded on the interstate. I sampled at 3k miles because my intent is to change the oil to HPL's 15w-40 cold climate, which has zero group III base oil. The base oils for the cold climate oil are PAO, alkylated naphthalene (AN), and Esters. I am curious to see how the cold climate oil will hold up compared to the standard HDEO. My other motivation to change the oil now is to install the PPE fuel cooler relocation kit and run a much larger and frankly better engine oil filter. I would rather not change the oil filter for the duration of the oil run and I believe the PPE filter will allow me to do just that.

This UOA shows nothing but boring results. There has been 4 quarts of make-up oil over 25,000 miles, but as we have learned when you pull with relatively high EGTs you can expect some oil consumption. 1 quart consumption every 6,250 miles isn't bad, I would rather the consumption was zero, but that's not realistic. The Fe wear rate is 5.2 ppm/1k miles, which is in line with the wear rate we see from the 6.6L Duramax according to @dnewton3 's data on the Duramax. With the soot at 0.8%, TBN at 12.54, oxidation at 7.3, and the viscosity at 15.2, this oil is in great shape and would have continued to run if I didn't want to change to the 15w-40.

Excellent results.
Could have served longer, obviously.

Any idea what the Si starting point is? (IIRC the anti-foam package escalates this value).

Are you still using the fuel additive that has some Fe in it?

Nice! Makes me want to run it in my gas truck, this or the supercar.

As you mention, there seems to be nothing out of the ordinary for your results on this latest sample. The only thing I see stopping this 25k ODI is right at the magical <150 Fe...Perfect timing! ha! Oxidation kept low during the run. Adding the 4 qts over the run probably helped a bit though. If this is a 12 qt sump then that's replenishing 1/3 of the oil. It'll be interesting to see how the 15w-40 PAO fairs & sounds like it has a good starting point but this oil used here seems to be excellent as well.

This is correct. When you replace 4 quarts of a 10 quart sump, it skews the data. This oil could easily run to 30k and probably 35k if I didn't mind > 1% soot. I still haven't made up my mind on that one.

Is there a PDS for the cold climate 15w40 that we could see?
I don't have the PDS for this, but here is the data table for the 15W-40 Cold Climate. Once I complete the PDS I will upload that as well.
