WHY!?

The drain plug ( oil filter cap plug ) is leaking in this video ( starts at 1:09 ) for O.C.. The previous person who did the O.C. probably didn't twist the oil filter cap plug ( drain plug ) 90 degrees to make proper seal (?) . No thanks to buying a new Kia or Hyundai with the new 1.6 Ltr..

wow, it looks like whoever did that job previously shoved in a wrong filter with a wrong plastic piece. Spin on FTW.

I don't think he turned the new oil filter cap plug 90 degrees to secure / seal the filter in place inside the housing .

Does the owner's manual give details on how to change the oil filter, or does it just say bring it to the dealer for an oil and filter change? If the former, I can see people trying to figure out the puzzle at home and making all kinds of mistakes.

i like the bottom mounted spin ons with the opening up! girlfriends 18 optima 2.4 L is EZEiest oil filter ever!! and it uses NO OIL, 10-30 fake synthetic quaker state in Pa weather

Any one find a good source for this unique filter that does not cost a arm and a leg. I cant seem to find anywhere where i can find it less than $10 per unit when you factor in shipping. I would be a buyer at $8 per unit and buy up to 6 to get that price shipped.
Nearly any big name filter would be acceptable. Ebay is littered with 4 filters for $22 ish but they dont seem to list manufacturer. The design and concept of this filter does not bother me, finding a economic option from a decent manufacturer has been annoying.

My New car 2022 Kia Rio 5s 1.6l in line 4.
Its just my commuter car. Mpg has been 38-40 so far driving to work which is about 32 miles round trip.
Thinking about using my stock pile of rotella gas truck 5w-20 but the owners manual specs 0w-20. It does not get cold enough in oregon west of Portland to justify 0w-20. Just need some filters to get ready for the first oil change.

1) design: Yikes - way to overthink an oil filter
2) cost: Yikes x2 - local pricing off the shelf is around $15-18 (AAP, ORs)
3) install factor: Yikes x3 - some DIYers and most quick-lube places are gonna screw this up at least once, if not more than that

Went to the local kia dealer got a factory filter for my 2022 rio $10 bucks. Hope someone will come out with a decent aftermarket that retails for closer to $5
$10 is Practically Highway robbery compared to my previous cars. I could usually find a filter for less than 4-5 bucks.
