I'm worried. Must purchased this car 3 months ago.

Today I experience some rubber banding in the CVT before the transmission really started blogging down. Foot down between 1/2 and 3/4 of the way down, engine revs up to 4k before it slowly accelerates off.

No idea what to check or look for.

I do have warranty, hard part will be getting then to honor it.

How many miles on it? Any check engine light or codes present? Could it be something simple like low system voltage from a weak/failing battery?

72K miles. I used torque to pull pending codes. None present. Pulled it out of the parking spot and under light throttle and it drives fine. Under heavy throttle it bogs down again. No check engine light either

Quick search online shows it could also be
Any history of fluid changes?
If not, a simple drain and fill is where I'd start.

good luck!
No idea on fluid change. I was planning on having it done after I get my tax return.

Turns out the problem isn't the cvt, these cars are known to send false signals to the knock sensors intermittently. This morning the car drove fine. Only thing that upset me is that I bought the car 3 months ago and they're saying my certified pre owned warranty is expired already. Anywho if it does it again I'll trans it to my local shop who does great work for cheap.

How do you know this for sure without codes or scan data? I hope it's something simple for you, but I've been following this version of the 1.5T engine for a bit now and have not seen much of anything in regards to a knock sensor issue.

Still not seeing how you conclude a knock sensor from that thread.

Air metering issues I could see (MAF, MAP, etc). This can be an issue on these 1.5Ts if you have excessive oil in the intake, charge air cooler and throttle body. Much of the PCV system functionality on these engines happens under the cam cover through orifice ports. Poor oil change maintenance can cause them to plug, creating blowby which runs right through the turbo.

Starts with post #5. They begin talking about the ECM update that fixes the knock sensor issue. And the issue i was having felt a lot more like engine bogging down as opposed to trans belt slipping. Then for it to return to full functionality overnight really makes transmission problems a big "low possibility"

Hope it's something simple as well. Keep us posted.

I was grasping at straws freaking out. I found out this morning my certified pre owned warranty is out of date and no longer valid only 3 months into ownership. It was a 6yr 100kmi warranty. So now all I can rely on is a limited powertrain warranty.

Just an update. I have not had anymore issues with the aforementioned problem. I'm pretty confident it was the knock sensor/pcm issue.

Regardless when my tax return hits I'm opting for a cvt fluid change.
