2018 Equinox LS engine life

I see a 2018 Equinox LS with 130000 miles for sale. What would the expected life of the 1.5 liter turbo engine be? Will the turbo go out soon. Would the direct injection have caused clogged valves by now. Thanks

Depends on care. My 2019 is very cared for, and the 1.5 is still very strong. It gets frequent oil changes to keep both engine and turbo happy.

Take a good look around on its condition. If it’s well cared for- should be good for a while. If not, beware….

With 130k, it might already have a new turbo as well….

The remaining life and reliability is mostly based on prior maintenance and usage. However probably not a great engine to handle neglect well.

There are ways on YouTube, and they do work to some degree. I just slow down a bit more before a stop, and it doesn’t set mine off. ‘If you’re light on the pedal it can be fooled….

Yes it can. I have one of those hood switch stop/start eliminator harnesses plugged into the hood switch on my 2021 equinox LT AWD 1.5T. No check engine light, the hood switch still functions and the auto stop/start does not. It was around $10 on the Amazon machine.

Mechanics tend to rag on the equinox in general, but I think you'll find not too many problems with the 2018+ variety. Easy DIY maintenance and IMO an all around nice vehicle.
