If she commutes 70 miles per day and she’s happy with what she has keep that. My wife does similar mileage in an VW Tiguan and it consumes vehicle but she is happy with her vehicle in every way.
Most people who get a minivan have a bunch of kids to haul around along with all their gear for football or soccer or ??My wife's 2017 Forester has an oil change scheduled at the dealer in 2.5 weeks. She's at 6500 miles and will be at least 7700 to 8000 when the oil change arrives. I changed it with Kirkland 0w20 in early June. It had a decent amount of town driving over the summer (1500 miles or so) and the last 3 months has been 70 miles, round-trip, commute daily, so basically all "easy" miles since August.
If I had an excuse to buy a new car, I might take it up with her. I want a minivan. She laughs at me and says she won't drive a minivan. I guess I have no shame. Or I'm a huge loser. I'm not certain. I'll schedule therapy to find out.
So, anyway, will the engine blowup and we'll end up with an Ascent even though I want a minivan (the couch isn't the worst place to sleep if I REALLY want my minivan)? Or will the car be fine, aside from rear wheel bearings every 17 miles, like a typical Subaru of this vintage?
I need your support through this matter. My sleep depends on it.
Thanks in advance to all the caring members of BITOG for helping me out. used oil analysis from the era of this Subaru would be helpful, or maybe not. Depends what they show.

Minivans now are a specialty vehicle with limited selection with Toyota/Honda owning market. Chrysler not sure if the sales numbers are fleet sales or actual profitable consumers.Regarding the mini van comments at the beginning of this thread, when it came time to decide if we need a minivan, we went with a Suburban instead. No regrets. We still have our third Burb.
On the other hand I always noticed mini vans, at least the early ones, were pretty cheap and when coupled with long loans, were reachable for cash strapped young families. In this world there is something for everyone.![]()
I'm saying your wife is opposed to the minivan because of all the positive attention and attraction you'll get from other women when you drive it. Minivans are the modern equivalent of Greased Lightning.Monogaminivanimous? I'm assuming that's that you meant.
