My brother just lucked into a new truck. He picked up a 2016 Silverado LT crew cab 4x4 w/ 18,000 miles for $28,000. It was some type of program car through the dealer - they had records on it. He has the remainder of the factory warranty and lifetime warranty from a huge, multi-location, multi-brand area dealer. It is the best kind of truck, no options - no frills w/ steel wheels & hubcaps and column shift. For being a step above base model it has a nice touch screen radio and digital information center in the cluster. The only 'bad' thing about it is the electronic 4x4 versus having a shift lever on the floor. I guess the dealer was eager to boost their numbers in the final weeks of the year. They had it tagged at $33,000 and were eager to deal.

The 5.3 in this thing is a $*#&@#& rocket. The truck rides a millions times better than my 2009 FX4 and has gobs of more power. But I also have like double the front bumper ground clearance and my cab sits a few inches higher. I am very tempted to find one for myself. I was going to start looking at 2013-2014 5.0 F150s but they are going to be in the price range that this 2016 was.

That actually sounds high to me for a used W/T trim when there are the 25% off MSRP promos for new. I like the Dodge Rams, they have the more rugged styling at least to my eye although the two holes in the grille for 2017 look stupid and ruin the entire front fascia appearance.

My Lt is great. 25k miles now and no issues. Like its supposed to be. Cant go wrong with a chevrolet. This is the 4th full size chevy and 1st bought brand new.

Get rid of that ford! Hurry!

I beg to differ. I can't wait to get rid of mine. Royal POS

The big three took a big jump in hp the past few years. I'm amazed at the output of my bottom of the line 3.7l Ford.

I guess the point is, you have a considerable array of choices.

Advice: V6s and full sizes don't go together.....especially extra cabs.

Get a V8 next time and if you still insist on six cylinders- get a turbodiesel inline-6

Old school attitude. People that have ACTUALLY DRIVEN the V6 over on the Silverado truck boards states it's plenty adequate if towing is not involved regularly.

They only sell 40,000plus/units a month Silverado/Sierra combined......that's all.

If I lived in the mountains, I would agree with the six cylinder argument. Here in the Richmond area my six (old type 4.3) does just fine and pulls my 3,000# boat. FWIW I've had one issue with my Silverado in 4 1/2 years, and that was a fuel tank pressure sensor. Cost of the part was 30 something bucks and I replaced it myself.

I love the idea that a V6 and a full size truck don't got together... Maybe many, many years ago... At this point, you can't pry my Ecoboost truck out of my hands.

The V6's available today often put out more power and torque than the top end V8's of yesterday...

We are spoiled with a huge array of great engines to choose from these days...

Good luck with you new truck!

Uh. no. Power has never been an issue. The Ecotec3 is a monster of an engine. The trans that they mated it to however, is a gigantic mess.
