Saw one at the dealer this morning and it sure looks a lot different. Resembles the Accord much more than previous gens. The first one I saw was a loaded Touring model for $27k msrp.

An ex-l was $24.5k and the basic LX auto was a reasonable $20.2k. Interior looked nice as well as the dash. The dealer was starting to open so I high tailed it out of there quick. Here are some pics:

That's actually a nice looking car (at least in pictures) something I haven't been able to say about Hondas for a while. For that kind of money, I think I'd prefer something with a little more utility and higher ride height like the HR-V or Kia Soul.

Seems bigger in person. I read somewhere, maybe CR that Hondas and Acuras have taken a dive in reliability. Trans problems with the Acura TLX. Kia was way up there with Toyota and Lexus for highest marks.

My Brother just leased a 2016 Honda Civic.

Nice with a lot of high tech stuff I'm not used to.

He had it 2 Months and then hit a deer.
It's in the collision shop now.

I told him "at least you didn't buy it with the intention of keeping it for 20 years".

0w-20, same as the rest of the Honda lineup. 1.5 engine oil capacity is 3.7 quarts. Things have sure changed in the turbo engine world...

Are you sure it's a '16 because the first sales were last Weds or Thurs with it's release?

2 horsepower per cubic inch is beginning to be the standard now, On regular gas?

Remember when 1 hp per cubic inch was ultra high performance?

Looks like its trying to look big and luxury. Not exactly what a Civic has always been. Just skip it and go for the Accord imo.

It's an attractive car. But I don't really like that it's kind of looking like a more complex, gadget stuffed vehicle.
Honda seems to be going far away from the idea of a light, simple car that is fun to drive and not overly expensive.
I like Honda's for the most part....but the Civic seems to have gone upscale and left nothing behind.

There are plenty of high COG options in the marketplace. Hopefully the cars that can corner won't disappear entirely.

The driving style for most Americans is to slow way down for curves and then mash the gas pedal when the road straightens out.

Acura has really tanked, now below average. Too many high technology complicated upscale SUV's pulling them down. Honda has dropped slightly, mainly because of all the problems with the new Mexican built Fit. The Civic is the most reliable car in its segment according to CR. First year Civics do tend to have some issues though. I really like the car but will probably buy one in its last model year when they are discounted heavily and the kinks are worked out. Bought my 15 Civic LX for 15,500.

Are you sure this is the case? They have exactly one high technology complicated upscale SUV (the MDX) and it's generally regarded as one of the best in the segment. This article:

Mentions problems owners had with their Acura sedans: "Acura owners had issues with in-car electronics and transmissions in the newest RLX and TLX sedans..."

I am probably mistaken about the SUV thing, I was going from memory of something I didn't read closely. I'm sure you are correct.

I have read some reviews that really praise the way it drives. I saw one in person this past weekend at a dealership. The interior looks very nice. However, to my eye, the exterior looks way over done with too many creases, angles and lines. Kind of tacky looking.
