Yesterday I ended my latest buying spree. I saved some money and got some really nice rebates and incentives.
I traded in a truck and also got a good sum of money back plus no interest loan.
I figured the good deal outweighed any negatives. I'm in a downsizing mode and the car fits a niche for me.

The car came in the day before and it had only 3 miles on it before I test drove it.
It had the Michelin Green X 225/50/17's on it instead of the Firestones which I preferred.
The car is very heavy for a Hybrid and the doors have a Mercedes thunk to them. The rest of the
electronics are a bit dated but I real don't need any more of the gizmos and actually enjoy the basic real key over the push button start.

I pulled off the lot yesterday with 14 miles on the odometer. I have had two Hybrids prior but never a C Max.
I learned on my Honda Insight that the Eco button was a joke and I got better mileage never using it. First thing
I did was to turn it off.
I had a 19.5 mile trip home on a rural rolling hills road with a 50 mph posted limit but they do much more. So I kept the car in the 52-57 mph range and varied the speed. I did this for 18 miles and the rest was town driving with a 7 minute run to a drive in.

As I pulled into the lane the car gave me a score of 98% for braking efficiency and I got 47.6 mpg for the 19.5 mile trip. That's on a new car and I had the AC blasting and I do accelerate briskly from stop signs as driving super slow
does not save gas from what I see.

So far that's great and really inline with the old EPA rating from 2013 of 47/47 and 47 combined even though the new car was downgraded. Plus at 3900 pounds with me in it pretty amazing. At no time did I drive where I slowed other people up like the Prius stereotype.... I do get up to speed quick- keep just over the posted speed, coast down the hills and coast at good speed to the stop lights.

The factory mats are rather cheesy but I always get the all weather type so no big deal.
The only thing that is really weird is when you turn the car on nothing happens- dead silence- nothing... like
you didn't turn the key far enough. Its in instant electric mode unlike the Insight which will take some getting use too. The transitions are ultra smooth and make the Insight seem rather crude!

Nice. How's the room in the backseat? I like my Volt but my wife likes to ride in the back seat with our 3 month old and she is a little cramped. I'm beginning to think about trading it in and maybe the CMAX would be a good option.

Sounds sweet. My ex bought her 1st Ford last year - an Escape - and she's really enjoying it. No issues so far.

I always thought those were nice small-ish cars, perfectly sized for most uses and what looks to be a good upright seating position. With all the hybrids out there, it doesn't seem to get any attention at all which is a bit strange. Is there anything wrong with Ford's hybrid system to make so many perspective buyers ignore it?

My folks have the same car. They love it but the "starter" battery has gone out 3 times. It's funny, all the battery seems to do is wake up the system because when you go to jump it, just connecting a good battery is all that is needed.
Anyway, sorry for being long winded, my suggestion is to carry one of those small LiIon jumpsarters.

Cool. Since it is not a Prius you are allowed to use more than 10% throttle. That is a Prius rule, never more than 10% throttle, especially if you are at a left turn arrow that is only green for 15 seconds.

As with any new car today, you just cross your fingers and hope for the best as far as reliability goes.

I can say that if your 6'2" no problem in the back. Its not a limo but close to the new Accord room
But a bunch of head room too.

Very nice car. I always thought the wheel/tire diameter was noticeably small or the size of the car, though. Maybe just from certain angles.

lookin good! is this a plug in model? or are they all? They just put in charging stations at work, so i've been looking at the Volt but the C-Max is interesting also.

No that would be the Energi model- this is not a plug in.
Thanks all!

Both reduce power and accessory output.
In theory it is to give you more mpg and more regenerative properties etc.
In my experience it makes you use the throttle more because it makes the car so slow that in the end you use more gas. That's my experience in actually using the eco mode.
If you hit that button in either car they become a slug.

Here are some pictures- if it helps you folks.
The drivers seat is set back for a tall driver and the top of the seat is reclined a good bit
as that's how I drive. The rest of the pictures is to give you an idea of what you're getting...

Nice ride - yes, took a bit of getting used to how quiet our Ford hybrid was - but that's
