Ford Hybrids

Since mine is rather new to me- the( 2016 C-Max ) and not hybrids.
I'm assuming this is the same with the new Fusions as well.

It's cold out and the car starts on the engine first ( usually the electric motor but its 10-30F out)
It idles a bit at 1500-1700 rpm initially. Now while in park if you try to rev it or just touch the gas pedal
it will not work at all-nothing. Car seems programmed to idle and the gas pedal does not work until you put it in a drive mode ( Reverse or drive.) Never seen this before in any other Hybrid I have had.

I don't know as I found it out yesterday. I read parts of the manual that you should read but
that issue may not even be in the manual. I'll have to see about that later today. No problem just weird-new to me...

Yeah, gas pedal is not engine throttle any more. It's now a power or speed pedal and it's fly by wire. You are not running the engine, it is ...

It's called "ran by wire" as in "electrical wire".

Here we call it "drive by wire"
I have others cars like that, but they let you rev in park....

It does that because Ford doesn't want you to abuse your engine.

What happens if you do the same after the engine is fully warmed up?

Wonder if that is year model or model depending - our Fusion just lights up the dash and slips out the drive in electric mode. I'm actually surprised how little it calls in the ICE - guess the brakes are charging the battery pack pretty well ?
