Been browsing the forum for years. Wanted to get some suggestions on which synthetic yall would personally use.

1. 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X GSR

2. 5W30 Synthetic highly recommended. With the OLM counts down from 6 months/4 thousand miles.

4. Easy and within speed limits majority of the time. Hehe

5. Generally smooth driving around town, many highway miles, and aggressive runs now and then.

6. No known problems.

Traditionally factory fill for Evo's are Mobil 1. Back in 2012-13, Evo owners were concerned new Evo's came with conventional oil. Maybe, maybe not. Manual states if synthetic not available, use API certified detergent 5W30. Doesn't matter to me. I'll be using a full synthetic 5W30. Current mileage is 33XX.

First oil change I did was at about 1XXX miles. Changed out the factory fill with Mopar Synthetic 5W30(dealer supplied) which I read on the internet is rebranded Mobil 1. FIlter was Mitsu filter.

I would use whichever 5w30 synthetic is on sale -- there are a lot of good choices these days at your local auto parts stores.

There are some that carry the Honda HTO-06 (turbo-specific) approval, such as Mobil 1 5w30 and Pennzoil Platinum 5w30. Those are worth considering since they meet some very strict requirements; both should be available at most auto parts store for $6/qt or less on sale.

Dparm pretty much summed it up. Any major brand Syn in 5w30 will serve your motor well. Just keep oci's sane and it will do fine.

Your manual may state that 0w30 and 0w40 are acceptable in below freezing conditions. I also entered my car info into MOTUL's website to see what is used in Europe. They use 0w40 over there in all seasons according to MOTUL.

Right now I am using Castrol 0w40 because it seems 0w40 works extremely well in all turbocharged gasoline engines, many used oil analysis show better results using Mobil 1 0w40 or Shell Rotella T Synthetic 5w40 versus any kind of 5w30.

I plan on sticking to Mobil 1 5W30 with a mitsu filter.

Any 5w30 with Honda HT-06 turbo approval. Mobil 1 5w30 comes to mind.

Is PP still a few bucks cheaper than M1, in either 5 quart jugs or single quarts?

Pennzoil Platinum meets some good specs too and should be close to price of M1, but price varies by location sometimes. Here are the specs the 5w30 meets.

Pennzoil Platinum® 5w30 exceeds Chrysler MS-6395, Ford WSS-M2C946-AWSS-M2C929-A, GM 6094M, GM 4718M, dexos1™ Certification and Honda/Acura HTO-06

Both should be around $23-$25 in 5.1 quart jugs at Walmart, and substantially more at auto parts stores, ie: $9+ a Quart!

Ram01, maybe I'll try PPPP(that's the Platinum Pure Plus what's the other version called?) some day. Next OCI I'm considering Mobil 1, Pennzoil Platinum, or Castrol EDGE. Already got a Mobil 1 Extended Performance filter.
