2014 jetta 1.8t oil recommendations

Original post 1/2qt in 600 miles = 1qt in 1200 miles.

@obecny - my friend who is VW mechanic said they use the BG EPR to help clean the stuff out on the oil burners. I think it was a VW TSB for it. He said it helps a lot and then use a correct spec oil (since VW has like 6 different ones) and try to do more frequently than OLM.

Yes, I know everyone is tired of these kind of questions, I'm sorry.

I have a 2014 Jetta 1.8t with 125kish miles.

Consumes roughly half quart of oil every 3k miles

TLDR: oil recommendations for a 2014 Jetta with 125k miles that consumes oil. Maybe filter recommendations?

Love watching people claim that burning 1qt in 1000 miles as "normal".

Hey 1 qt every 1200 miles IS NORMAL......per VW

But it's definitely not normal

Shure try a flush and shortish OCI with 40 oil.

Mobil 1 0/40 and a oem filter is the answer to this question.

Quaker State Euro 5w40 would be my choice. Good oil with Euro specs, cheap, and readily available at WalMart.

Iirc those were the cars where VW put piston rings upside down thus causing oil burning. I'd use xW-40 oil in the engine too.

I wanted to comment and say something like "Relax my guy, this isn't Reddit" but didn't think it would make any difference. I took the approach of "This will handle itself in short order". It did.
