Our 3 fairly local dealerships have the new Impala sitting out in front and honestly, I'm sort of ho-hum on the car. I know all the magazines are raving about it (which is good, Malibu was different), but to my eyes all I see. is a Buick with a Camaro front end. Next to the new-new one was a new 2013 Impala LTZ, and personally I prefer the older one in an upscale trim, especially since they will be much cheaper than $31,000. I might be in the minority, but I am really not that interested. They should sell well with positive reviews.

I had an old 2001 Impala and liked it. My wife prefers SUVs, I like cars for their better handling. I think the new Impala is an advance.
I personally have my eye on the new Cadillac CTS, it's bigger, lighter and the new 3.6 liter Turbo V6 with 420 HP should be a blast. I have a regular 3.6 V6 in my Buick Enclave.

I just rented an old one in upscale trim (a 2013 LTZ with everything [heated leather, moonroof, Bose sound, 18" wheels] - that stickered over $32,000), and that car should have been retired about 5 years ago.
It is way past time for the 2014 model, if you're on board or not.

I have always liked the impalas and look forward to seeing the new ones I havent seen them in person yet but I always thought they were nice cars...I may also be biased since they use them as police cruisers and drive them for that as well but our crusiers arent quite as nice as the ones on the lot but they can sure take a beating.

I rented a 2012 or 2013 (not sure exactly) Impala LTZ over Christmas vacation. Nice trim package (sunroof, leather, heated seats, premium audio, etc), super nice 3.6L GDI V6 engine... but what it had in features it equally lacked in refinement. The handling wasn't all that great and the road noise drove me insane.
Hope Chevy did a much better job with the '14.

I rented a 2012 or 2013 (not sure exactly) Impala LTZ over Christmas vacation. It will be another piece of dog [censored]. We have a 2002 and 2004 in our family and they both break down all the time. The Volvo and Honda are much better cars. My 1997 GMC Sierra is built much more solid then the 2013 we just got at work. So much plastic it is pathetic. I use to be a die hard GM fan but no longer.

Oh really? That's funny. My grandfather had a 1999 Silverado, and my neighbor has a 2012 Silverado. Guess which one feels more solid/substantial and more powerful? The 2012. And again, comparing a 2002 Impala and a 2004 Impala to a modern GM car? Well it's just beating a dead horse at this point, but the differences are staggering in terms of reliability.

The new SS would be the one I would want, but I wouldn't give up my Mustang. If I could get my wife to want the SS. Unfortunately she is addicted to her SUV.

No they didn't. That part doesn't bother me. Granted our Impala is 13 years old, but I think they had a nice look in 2000, especially with the spoiler and sun roof options. This new one seems to be a little overstyled compared to the much mocked 2012's, hence the reason for a new Impala. The interior looks great, but the exterior just seems "busy".

I just hope GM finally turns around, Im a Honda lover, both my parents own Chevy's. They are ok, but my 1995 Accord i used to own had fewer problems then the newer Chevy's they own. Plus I dont like the looks of the new Impala. It looks like a big turd.

I like it. I wish it could be a little bit longer, for a smoother ride if nothing else. But it looks sleek and yet aggressive, like a more sculpted Buick LaCrosse.
