OP I am not surprised that Champion labs makes these. Champion labs makes outstanding filters, I think the best filter around are the Royal Purple filters (also made by Champion labs). Good stuff.

That's not necessary anymore. Its literally a waste of oil to change sooner.

Look at DD (Detroit diesel) the new long haul maintenance spec is 50,000 miles oil change intervals, 35,000 miles severe service intervals. That full synthetic.
 
^^^^Yes, but they've also got roughly 12 gallon sumps also. Its all relative to the reserves.

What is the new 6.7 recommended service interval? The 13+ Cummins is 15,000 miles and Ive seen several UOA that supports they are capable of going further. 8900 miles should be very manageable.
