So then "a" 4.3 is in the lineup, but "the" 4.3 is no longer with us

I have a 4.3. But it's a V6!

It is also from Chevy.

Push-rod beastlyness. That engine LOVES to make power.

(Also: My 4.3 V6 WAS based on the old 5.7.)

That's some puff-puff-pass stuff right there.

Without knowing the options I would say that is on par with other trucks.
Buddy just got a new pretty loaded 1/2 ton dodge 48000.
Seems like a lot to me but people pay it.
I got my 02 3/4 ton 3 years back with 23000 miles on it on paid 12000. It is CC long bed.

What? The new 4.3 is also a v6.

I'm amazed at the HP they can get out of the V6's, more than the V8's of only a few years ago.

The new 5.3 is also going to be a screamer, I might get one in my next work truck and put an exhaust on it just for fun.

In a base 2wd truck with only the 5.3 as an option that's going to be a fast truck.

Oh and I think power windows are now standard on the WT.

So on par with everyone else. That is a what truck cost new. End of discussion. You may be able to get it cheaper than that and that would be a good on you, but in the Pacnorwest? Not going to happen.

You GM haters can crawl back in your hole about price as well(you know who I am talking to K car Man).
Sometimes, you guys who bash GM all the time sound like, well, uniformed idiots. I don't drive anything but GM now a days and have had some bad cars from other manufactures in past(Ford, Honda, Mopar, and VW), but I let it go unless a specific thing is asked about that car brand and the model year I owned or a car with the same drivetrain.

It is going to be a nice truck. Just as nice as everyone else making a full size truck.

This is a good site, but some days I want to get banned or just leave. I don't because there is some good info here and I need to keep some folks honest.

Again, enjoy what is left of your Sunday.

That's progress for ya.

Heck, modern 4-cylinders are cranking out as much power as old V8s...while being quieter, more fuel efficient, smoother, and more reliable.

When I bought my old Audi S4, my dad once commented that the V8 in that thing would've been considered a "race motor" back in the muscle car era.

Many folks are talking down the new GM trucks as if Ford or Ram don't have $40k+ trucks, how much is a new Eco boost?

Any of you guys play around with Fords/Dodge/GM truck configurator? You can build a truck $50K easy. That's high end lux car brand cash right there.

A fully-loaded 3-series costs more than that these days.

Yep, no offense to the challenged as I know a lot of folks are on severe budgets but have you priced many new cars lately?

50k these days doesn't buy too many really nice luxury cars!!!

All loaded trucks are to expansive I don't care who makes them. I just don't understand why people who don't work in construction or on a farm would consider one.

I just can't imagine spending $40k-$60k a on a pickup truck to just drive. But than again I'm not a truck person I just use them as tools for my company.

My sentiments exactly. I drive a 4x4 in winter and park it for summer unless I require it for towing the trailer.
I hate putting gas in it,and mileage sucks,as does interior space for the family.
A truck for me is used only when required, otherwise I've got other vehicles that costs less to operate and maintain.
And today's trucks are just insanely priced. So not only do you pay the fuel premium, but cost just to get into one is just crazy.
But there are times when I need a truck, and I'm glad I have it when I do.

I don't see why not, if that is what GM says. I personally hate to run anything that light if I maybe towing.

Lots of Fords running 5w-20 and towing. I don't hear stories of those blowing up.

Hey calm down guys, it's not up to you to justify why or why not I drive or can afford a truck, I get by just fine, my truck is my dd and I tow a boat as well, no biggie I can afford a boat as well…
