They certainly are but the ordinary American's ability to afford those increases is becoming less and less possible.

Today's cars are..... Too complicated, too heavy, too feature laden, too complex (electronics) and certainly way too expensive.

And I'm going to be the one to point out that not everyone wants a completely stripped out, no radio, no A/C, no power locks, power windows, no sound deadening, carb'ed OHV engine, 5 speed manual, car, that will crumple like a tin can in any accident.

And the few people that do want a stripped down car are too cheap to buy it new!

And most of them are right here on BITOG, lol! But I agree with NickR - I spend a lot of time in my car so I want it nice!

Don't know if it will work, a $30k Malibu is starting to edge into BMW 3 series, A4, and Lexus ES territory, especially on the leases.

In the mid west since American cars seem to be preferred they will probably do ok with this, around here...well lets see.
Still chancey in the midwest....in my area I found 2 Buick Lacrosses that were around $31500. $30,500 for a Chevy vs. $31,500 for a Buick (and this is sticker, mind you, I haven't dickered yet), and I'd be seriously looking at the Buick.

That was a pretty good review. I agree with what that reviewer had to say. The new Malibu would be a solid choice.

From what I have seen most vehicles west of the Mississippi until you hit say CA are American.

Around here its just the opposite.

Buick, Chevy..whats the difference?

Actually the Buicks have changed dramatically in the last couple of years.

Dynamite little 4 banger turbos and stick shifts available. Not your fathers Buick!
