Im at a loss for words.. picked this car up a couple weeks ago from a CPO dealer, not 1 issue. out of the blue, 2 days ago the transmission lost all of its fluid from a external leak and driving gears, had the car towed to dealer, (as the tech said) "has a internal seal leak, and we just replace the transmissions and are not authorized to take apart used ones"

Wow... I hope this is not the start to that downhill slide of problems? But kia did give me a rental, and are covering the towing, parts, and labor.

Since you didnt buy it new who knows how much abuse it was given(if any).

Does not seem to be a huge problem with these..

unlike some of Chrysler's issues.

If its under warranty its good... Let us know how things turn out and if there was any drama with the dealer or warranty. And if there is pm me. They are usually good cars and the warranty should be great.

Kia....hmmm. I have a feeling that this car MIGHT have been abused at some point. Did you get a car fax or similar?

CPO programs really don't mean much, it's more marketing than anything else.

I like those cars and the Hyundai version. Cool sleeper after a good 93 tune. But I did have one go wide open throttle on the highway next to me and it blew out so much blue smoke when it took off that I could not believe it.

Just a low mileage used car with no dings and dents sold by that brand's dealer

We drive by the areas largest Hyundai dealership and have seen many of them blowing blue smoke, too. Both N/A and turbo'd. But they're being flogged.

I don't see a problem here for the OP, sounds like he's getting good warranty servicing...

Im happy with the service, not happy new to me 2 week old car is going in for a new transmission. I keep you updated. should be installed by mid next week.

And i have some serious carbon also after a good WOT run. Does not use a drop of oil, im pretty sure its running rich at WOT or something. I use 91 Ethanol Free

They don't take apart transmissions. You'll get a rebuilt/reman in your car from the place that performs it for Hyundai.

Hopefully its quick. My friend lost the transmission at 220 miles in his Audi S5. They paid him $3000 to keep the car and gave him an extended bumper to bumper warranty. He complained to service department at 150 miles of odd shifting and they blew him off saying he was not used to it! It took 10 days to get another transmission located which was imported from Germany apparently off the car line.

This is probably normal, most turbo engines run very rich at WOT. It's to control detonation.

I've owned many turbos and they all do. My Santa Fe 2.0T has that same engine and transmission, I'd guess yours was seriously mistreated by the previous owner. But the puff of smoke on WOT is no issue.

Was the prior owner's name Hertz? I rented a Hyundai in New Mexico, nice car but it had to be flogged a bit up those long hills.

SL2, I haven't read of or seen this particular issue. It's frustrating for sure, but kind of a good thing in the long run. Now you'll basically have a new transmission that only you will be driving. Kind of like the quality suction job previously mentioned.

Depends on which manufacturer and of course the integrity of the individual dealer, I know of many that claim to have done the mandatory checks to qualify the vehicle for CPO status, and DID NOT do them...surprise surprise.
