http://www.autoblog.com/2012/02/08/2013-hyundai-elantra-gt-is-one-handsome-hatch/

It's lightweight, available with a stick-shift, and a hatchback! Drool! Do want! Although not badly enough to trade the Cruze in on it.

I like how Hyundai is giving the hatch buyer another option, and not decontenting the car for those few of us who want a stick! That is closer to addressing my complaint about not offering a stick on anything but the stripped-out base cars. Time will tell if the GT can be optioned with a stick and all the goodies.

I'd be giving this a hard look if I were in the market for a car.

Looks like it also does not have the DI motor..

I think it would have 170hp if it did.

Looks nice but I hate the front bumper design, looks worse than the Civic or Mazda3.

No DI, check. No Turbo, check. From the pics, I like the styling and the hatch. Like to see it in person, but like what I see on the links.

Fwiw the Kia Forte' is due for a 2013 major redesign, also including a hatch. Not sure if the engine choices will be similar though.

Got a feeling though that if the pattern follows, DI will not be far behind.

OT:
WOW that C30 Volvo starts at JUST $24k? That might be an option for wifey's next car and it doesn't look like a hideous bubble either !
No AWD though

Be VERY careful of companies like Volvo, Saab, Hummer and such since they MAY or MAY NOT be around (or under different ownership in a few years).

Buying anything is a risk but some companies I'd pass on no matter what they are making. Esp for $24k....

5 years from AFTER they buy the company maybe but even then...

Just my 3 cents.

No but I'd like to see one of those station wagons in the other thread.

Maybe even to the point where I'd buy a GM product new.. (doubt it but with something like that you'd never know...

Me as well..

Though I do still like the Cruze sedan...

It'll probably look better in real life. I thought the New sonata looked ugly in the pictures. I see many of them in my city and they look extremely gorgeous.

I traded a 2012 Sonata with 5000 miles on it for a 2012 Cruze LT two weeks ago. The Hyundai made me happy when I looked at it in the driveway. The Cruze makes me happy when I drive it!
The Hyundai was all about form with no substance. The Cruze just the opposite. I have over 1,000 on it in two weeks. The Cruze is a better driver's car in every way. Better handling, fuel mileage, less road noise and engine noise. Stay with your Cruze.

Yes, I gave up some interior room in the Sonata but interior room means nothing if the car is miserable to drive.
