NOOOOOO!!!

GM, big mistake. Now don't mess up by not bringing over the Cruze hatchback. Some of us don't want a sedan.

Talk about a mood killer.

That was quick!

Toyota did the same thing with the current generation Tundra. They talked about putting in a HINO diesel for 2011 back around 2008. In 2009, the squashed the rumor stating current sales or lack of did not warrant it. New rumor is they may put one in for the 2014 model year next generation Tundra but there is some speculation they may not even be a next generation Tundra.

I guess this won't be my family's first new Chevrolet in 40 years. I just sent Chevy an e-mail regarding this subject. I also advised them that, if we are both still around in another 40 years, maybe I'll give General Motors a chance at my business again...

I didn't know this but can believe it. My Cobalt has a DI system along the same lines as what diesels use and at idle there is a hint of the same sort of noise.

Sometimes manufactures just test the public's reaction to products to gauge the predicted demand. GM, in my opinion, MUST bring the diesel to cars and the Cruze would make sense to be the first model. I think the biggest hurdles are the gov't regulations. I really think the diesel Cruze will, ultimately, make production.

Sadly, the response I got from customer service amounted to, "Oh, well...".

The Cruze does not come with cruise. What?

All this new and useless gadgetry and it doesn't even have a basic, time-tested, useful and functional feature.

It seems the makers used to be working toward a common goal, now they're just too backwards to make any sense.

That is a lower trim level. The higher trim level have cruise as standard equipment. You either have to go with a higher trim level or have a option package (if they have it) added to the lower trim level to get cruise.

This practice is quite standard among all car makers.

IDK, Hyundai and Saturn S series were more flexible on options... want a power sunroof and crank windows with power locks? No problem. Want leather without a sunroof? Sure. Manual steering and AC? Can do.

The era I'm thinking of is when they weren't full line car makers so had no upsizing politics interfering with making a nice small car.

Chevy likes to shame the economy car buyer into something with a $1000 option package-- or with deliberately cheap plastic interior etc. I would get a base cruze and parts bin cruise. Friendly dealer can make it happen; unfriendly dealer not so.

Just telling it like it is.

I also do remember when you could option out regardless of trim level. Many time, if it could not be done at the factory, it could be done at the dealer. Those days are gone.
